I know lots of people were wanting him to be Jetfire-sized or larger but this looks like a great size to me. Not too much larger than an old-school Leader class.

I'm guessing Star Saber's shield could be one of them. Maybe the sword for Saber too? They're both accessories the Masterpiece figure has.

 

Very true, yes. But I'm looking at the combination of factors:
-Next line is "Legacy"
-Black Zarak is getting made as a Titan class figure
-There's rumors of the Masterforce Headmaster Juniors being made

Also, Deathsaurus importantly doesn't have a lot of complexity to him, and won't require a crapton of molds/expensive tooling like a Primus would. Primus would be a huge investment that's far more niche than Unicron, who was ALREADY a struggle to get backed.

Speaking only for myself...in 2008 (right around the time I joined TFW) I discovered Victory via the G1 Star Saber toy. In Japanese canon, he's the 2nd to last Autobot leader/commander in G1 that actually had a toy. I got in to Japanese G1 from there, wanting to collect the autobot leaders from Optimus to Dai Atlas.

Very true. And I'm totally aware of that. Just trying to shed a little light on the "this is corporate welfare" mentality that gets thrown at these types of projects.

 

Y'know, these threads became a dumpster fire really fast. I'm just going to say that I like the figure, I'm glad I backed it, and that I really feel like I'm getting 4 figures for the price. Then I'm going to slowly back out, hit unwatch thread, and go back to work to earn the money to pay for this thing...

But then MP Raiden is a Takara Tomy project, so I don't think Hasbro has a say in there.

I mean, that's normal business practice in a lot of areas. You pay a deposit or the full upfront cost before work is even started. There's a lot of reasons why companies (big or small) go this route. It just seems weird that people would complain about this though because in this specific scenario, we wouldn't be even given the opportunity to get this item if HasLab wasn't used. Or it would be a severely scaled back design if it became a commander class figure.

Some folks don't like pre-ordering, they like holding the object in their hands before making the purchase or watching reviews (videos, photos and text) before making their purchase-- this system doesn't accommodate that. That sucks. But making the argument that Hasbro should run their business differently just because they make a lot of money is just dumb. Whether Hasbro is rich or poor, it doesn't matter. They are not running a charity. Why would they not try to mitigate financial risk? Boo hoo for using common sense and "defending" Hasbro.

Just as an FYI, It's cheaper to back this than to track down a KFC Simba + the KFC upgrade kit you need so MP-24 can stand in Victory Saber mode, so there's that.
