Been watching the upgrade kit threads like a hawk for the past day or two. I know upgrades already exist on Ebay, but not quite what I want even though I think they do address some issues. I want a longer blade and greater sideways motion for the arms. I know the latter is really ambitious. For whatever reason, I just assumed there was a hinge where the shoulder and the butterfly joint attach on top of the slight outward movement on the biceps allowing the arms to lift up to a 90 degrees. Turns out I was wrong. I almost broke mine thinking it was possible until I checked several reviews. I know this is very ambitious and I'm not sure if anyone would bother.

I got my copy today. The only qc I had are the face cover on Victory Leo not folding down all the way and the antenna on Star Saber is kinda on the loose end, but overall looks pretty good.

Playing with the stand. Unfortunately it's more jury rigged than actually connecting.

So the star saber knee ratchet is soft ratchet or strong ratchet?

Mine is soft but I saw in youtube theirs are strong with big clickering sound.

So now that I've had time to fidget with just the jet/robot portion of Star Saber sans the V-Star, I'm convinced this design needs to be just slightly tweaked (landing gear!) and upscaled for a mainline Voyager class release. With both Victory Saber and Deathsaurus being a success, it's time for Hasbro to put some faith in Japanese G1 and give this era some mainline representation. I think a Voyager Star Saber would be a great way to kick that off.

for future reference, without the V-Star he would be just Saber (or Autobot Saber as the HasLab team refers to him). Combining with the V-Star, he would then become Star Saber. And then combined with Victory Leo, he would become Victory Saber.

Well, maybe not right after HasLab, but maybe in like 5 years at least or 10 years at most.

I've heard it takes about 2 years for a toy to get developed from start to finish. So if Hasbro just now were to start having faith in Japanese G1, and develop a Voyager figure of Saber sans the V-Star, it would be 2 years down the road at the very least.

Gotcha. I keep forgetting all the distinct names. I forgot the shuttle part of the figure was called the V-Star until I had to return the thing for an exchange. And it doesn't help that I watch the English Omni dub, where he is just always referred to as Star Saber either way.

I just want to mention something that I absolutely love about this figure that's gone largely unremarked - the peg hole that appears when you close his had. No awkwardly trying to get everything to line up/balance. I really hope we see more of it

Alright got all caught up.. didn't realize just how often my question had been asked right before I did, oops. Still, appreciate the response.

Forwarded to global consumer care so still just waiting. But given others, I'm expecting to have to send Saber back first if they still have spares left. Which I'm not relishing because he actually has good gold on him heh. And just general anxiety about actually getting the replacement at all. In fact, if it weren't for that plugged hole, I'd consider my whole set perfect!

So also ordered a pin vise hand drill. Been on my short list of hobby tools to get anyway. My concern there looking at the good hole is there's also a very, very tiny indent in there for a raised tab on the nosecone peg; recreating that so it goes in properly is not something I think I have the skill for. Slowly and carefully clearing most of that plug, maybe.. that fine detail not really.

    Sooo weighing those options now.

not to be that guy but that was something that we discussed months ago. I can’t remember if that was part of the reveal but at the absolute latest was when designer Evan Brooks was showing off the features and transformation of the almost final prototype during a YouTube video posted back in May. He was showing how they included that hand feature that was first used on Siege Jetfire.

Cool - totally missed it. I tried to stay relatively unspoiled so as to enjoy it fully, which made it a pleasant surprise for me. It's a very well executed feature

(And bodes well for Armada Megatron's shiv!)

There could be uproar about redoing a figure which had a "kickstarter-like" origin.

Of course, if they did, I could see a Voyager class Star Saber and a Deluxe... or perhaps a Weaponizer Lio Convoy?

They're probably doing this because people are making fake claims.
I had to do the same thing when I got a defective Seacon.
