That's why I started the next sentence with "sarcasm aside," but I guess I wasn't entirely clear. :)

    But consider what you said:

You already admit an alternate explanation for some of the things that are seen on screen: animation errors. Let's expand upon two of the three I mentioned, duplicate Galvatron and mini-Bruticus. Why were they there? Well, someone wanted some "extras" for a scene, and borrowed animation models (that weren't already in the scene) from elsewhere. Unfortunately, that "someone" wasn't really familiar with why those particular models were not good choices. Hence, animation errors.

In this case, it sounds like the animation was done by someone who was familiar with the characters and wanted to put something in there as a treat for the fans who remembered G1.

Hmm. Maybe you're right. "Easter egg" would work better here than "homage."

Takara is known for wanting to mash everything into a single continuity. There isn't anything unusual about them doing that scene. It just happens to shatter the worldview of American fans who tend to obsess over separating everything. But also I stress you have to look at the scene. The "models" they chose were very deliberate. The details put them far above a notion of simply reusing models as generics.

I prefer we all just admit that Takara did this on purpose :)

    Pot meet kettle.

The problem is that Japanese continuity has a virtually limitless number of parallel universes, as evidenced by the Binaltech/Alternity portion of Japanese G1. So seeing an exact ringer for original OP doesn't necessarily mean it is the SAME original Optimus Prime from the same timeline. A lot of the universes have a completely identical original Optimus Prime.

At most, all you can say for absolute certain is that there was someone who could be an exact duplicate of the original.

And yeah, it could actually be him. It wouldn't necessarily be any crazier or more convoluted than stuff they've included before, like Car Robots and Fort Max. But there's no way to know unless Takara says something. And the last time Takara published an official timeline, Galaxy Force wasn't a part of it.

Hmm, I thought I was helpfully pointing out a fact that you might or might not have been aware of, but you are actually deliberately picking a fight. This is apparently just the latest column to prop up your pet insane cause. Go be crazy by yourself; willful blindness is incurable.

    I agree, :trolls:

Now THAT is post of the year material.

I agree, yes, they did. They also explicitly went against the business plan for the creation of the show by making it a separate and unrelated show from the previous two shows, when the original plan and agreement was for a trilogy of shows.

The character who lead the Cybertrons in that show was called Galaxy Convoy, not Convoy, Takara's equivalent to G1 Optimus Prime.

These things are well known facts.

What is also a well-known fact is that when Hasbro had Galaxy Force dubbed, they named it Cybertron. Galaxy Convoy was also named Optimus Prime and for Hasbro's version of the show, that character is the only Optimus Prime.

These things are well known facts.

That brief snippet of the 4 great leaders of the Cybertron in the past is not considered by Hasbro to be the G1 characters that they are modeled on. In that continuity, the character that looks like G1 Optimus Prime may very well have been known as "Red Rabbit" as far as Hasbro is concerned.

Hasbro doesn't care, because to Hasbro that background-image character is not the Optimus Prime of that series.

This is a well known fact.

For discussions concerning Hasbro's Transformers Hall of Fame, which character is an incarnation of Optimus Prime for their particular continuity, and has already been inducted under "Optimus Prime" is decided by Hasbro.

So far, everybody named Optimus Prime is considered to be already inducted as "Optimus Prime" by Hasbro. Hasbro has officially stated Optimus Primal is not an "Optimus Prime", and anyone else not explicitly named Optimus Prime is obviously also not an "Optimus Prime". Hasbro has also officially stated that the Megatron in Beast Wars is not an incarnation of the "Megatron" that has already been inducted into Hasbro's Transformers Hall of Fame.

These things are well known facts. If you don't believe that, check with a site that keeps track of these facts: TFWiki

Since this is about Hasbro's Transformers Hall of Fame, not Takara's or Gonzo's or anyone else's, that's the end of it.

To paraphrase the "Megatron" from G1: Pushing the point further is either stupid or a troll. Which one are you?

I think RID Scourge will get in when Nemesis Prime does.

That would be epic trolling by Hasbro. :lol

& expect a TFW Mod lead campaign to sever Scourge from Nemesis Prime...

& has a "Nemesis Prime" ever even been in a series? I think what might happen is Scourge get in, & all the Nemesis Primes get included as spin-offs of that character... Then Hasbro announce they're going w/ the "Nemesis Prime" name to differentiate from G1 Scourge, referencing this year's Megatron/ BW Megatron debate, which will be an epic trolling indeed.

Primus, I hate choosing in this case -- there are so many greats that I'm looking at this on this poll. Needless to say, I am conflicted now.

Arcee: I am a firm believer that Ladybots are untapped resources of awesome and it's sad to see that this factoid is only coming to the forefront in recent years. That said, seeing some of the love sent their way would be nice to see especially for Arcee since she somehow became the figure head for Femmes.

Sky-Byte: The Haiku spouting shark of RID. Why hasn't this guy been given more feathers for his hat confuses my inner self. K, I know RID seems to be right up there with the Unicron Trilogy when it comes to ridicule, but the doesn't mean they didn't have memorable characters.

Rodimus: Yes, I'd vote for him. As he was not the only character prone to absolute stupidity, how he became the definition of failure still eludes me. I do admire how the fandom has had enough power and energy to shun him and keep the point made, but by Primus and above, it's been 25 years, people. G1 is not the only verse, and he hasn't failed in ALL the verses he's appeared in.

Wheeljack: Mech has sure carved a nitch for himself in his lifetime, I mean, he's a recognizable character that pops up more and more each day. Considering how many characters are obscure I consider this a good thing. A charismatic spark labeled for his eccentric behavior within his profession -- while I personally would not like to be considered the engineer that "makes things blow up" it's done him well, that's for sure.

I believe the definition of failure is actually Ultra Magnus. Both times Optimus Prime left Magnus in charge of things, UM blew it on a scale that is hard to fathom. And Magnus doesn't have any good stuff like "single-handedly defeating Galvatron and Unicron simultaneously, thereby bringing an end to a war Optimus allowed to drag on for millions of years" to balance out his failures. Magnus' biggest accomplishment, other than providing us with the classic "I can't deal" quote, was to blow up the most beautiful thing in the entire galaxy. Good going, UM.

Cybertron was wholly in the custody and control of the Autobots for the very first time in 11+ million years (a Rodimus Prime accomplishment, by the way), and Magnus pissed it all away in less than the space of a single episode (The Rebirth, part 3). And Ultra Magnus' final words before losing consciousness as Cybertron turned to crap around him were to whine about Optimus having left him in charge. Rodimus' worst screw up can't hold a candle to that.

Nah, all I did was proclaim that what is there, is what it is.

Choose whichever one you want. It doesn't change the fact that what was in the scene was deliberate, not some random model meant to be some other character. If Hasbro has disputed it, by all means show me the statement. I'd be surprised if they were even aware of it. And even if they did dispute it, it still doesn't change what is clearly there.

LOL! In your roundabout "I don't know what is reality" you've proclaimed which one you are. You've said it just like Starscream did in reply to the question in the episode "Triple Takeover": "I'm stupid! I'm stupid!"

Hasbro disputed it long ago when they said the Armada trilogy isn't G1, just homaging names, appearances, archetypes, and ideas.

What is clearly there are models that are supposed to look like G1 Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and Jazz. They're also supposed to be the models for 4 great leaders of Cybertron sometime in the past of the Armada Trilogy.

What's also clear is those 4 great leaders are not supposed to be the G1 characters they appear to be, since G1 Jazz was never a great leader of Cybertron.

Hasbro pointed out who is Optimus Prime is in the portion of the Armada Trilogy called "Cybertron". Hasbro is the one that gets to make the final call on their products. Y'know, all that stuff with the "Transformers" label on it.

I can't make it any clearer than that. If you want keep proclaiming "I'm stupid! I'm stupid!" in your roundabout way, go right ahead. It's a re-run to me and anybody else who's bothered to read through enough of this thread, and I don't pay attention to re-runs when something new is on...

Could you be a bit more specific by what you mean to communicate in this statement. Do you mean you and 5 other people you know voted for Arcee by the time of the day you posted this or...?

Really? Semantics? Jazz was Optimus' second in command in case you forgot.

They can make the final call all they want, it still doesn't change what is there. You've yet to present anything they've said about that scene.

    Calm down bro :lol
