Might as well advocate for random splatters of bird poop being painted onto car transformers since, as with your logic with weather tank treads, it makes sense.

Translation: "If I convince myself that the older versions suck I won't feel as bad for not picking one up when the prices were reasonable"

I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Don't get mad, lol.

In all seriousness though, I have the Takara Legends version of Arcee and it stands perfectly with any of the new figures. My only issue with ER Arcee isn't the backpack so much as none of her robot parts contribute in any way to the car mode. She is the very definition of a shellformer and it's disappointing to see that lack of engineering...that said, I will pick the ER Arcee up because after a huge lack of G1 Arcee's, I try to get all of them and I think she'll display nice in one shelf or another, though she won't displace the Legends Arcee on my '86 Movie shelf.

While parts-forming is disappointing , It'd rather have that over an over complicated transformation that feels frustrating to transform. But she could still have the opportunity to bust out a neat trick in transforming

While this is nice for people to have a 2nd chance at hard to find toys, like you said, the random selection of which figures are chosen (and their distribution) irritates me.

For example, Rung and Singe were hard to find siege wave 4 toys. If you wanted Rung you get a 2nd chance in earthrise, but Singe? Ebay or forget it.

In my experience , Singe was easy to find and not many people cared about him

...they pulled guys forward from Earthrise to extend Siege an extra wave. So now those guys are showing up in Earthrise, as originally intended.

Then they wonder why more and more collectors get annoyed with the same [email protected] characters taking up spots that would be better for other characters that haven't gotten any love.....

Because odds are getting better that we're going to get "earth tapes."

I actually had to edit that to say "shellformer" but really, is the Generations/Legends version all that complicated, really? Compared to other Deluxe figures in the past like the old Generations Kup with that rotating chest and spring loaded fenders and an almost complete inability to get his [email protected]*%ING ARMS in place in vehicle mode, Generations/Legends Arcee is pretty easy...maybe not as easy as pulling the robot out from the underside of the car and then folding the car in half or taking 2/3rd of it off entirely but still, I think Generations/Legends Arcee is a really decent middle ground, lol.

Are they though? I mean, we've already gotten tapes for earthrise figures using siege molds, knok and skar go with doubledealer.

That kinda reminds me of how Lancer and Greenlight were labeled WfC despite being based on (and intended for) Prime Wars.

The whole thing was labeled as "Spy Patrol (Second Unit)" which aligned with the naming conventions for Siege Soundwave's tapes. So FIRRIB/FIBRIR and Wing Thing fit with their cohorts in Siege, and while Knok and Skar use the Siege tape design...you can also argue those guys weren't tapes in G1, so they're "techy" because they're intended to be Powermasters and not tapes.

I mean, if we're getting a new Soundwave, it would be very odd if some tapes (of any nature) don't pop back up at retail to go with him. So the question at that point would be if they re-issue his Spy Patrol sets...or if they shift and our Earthrise tapes are all Autobots to pair with an inevitable Blaster.

Personally, I think if we get earth tapes they won't be do overs of the siege guys, but would more likely be new tapes (like blasters set or overkill and slugfest) except maybe laserbeak. The absence of buzzsaw leaves that duo with two options. Either buzzsaw/ravage repaint comes out in the existing mold or buzzsaw gets a new mold with another tape and laserbeak might get a repaint of that. I don't doubt more tapes are coming, I'm just doubtful of do overs for them

I'm almost positive we'll see Laserbeak released again with a condor head that they can repaint as Buzzsaw.

But really I'd want a Ravage that isn't terrible, but I'll hold my breath on that one same way I do for Hasbro making a new anthropomorphic BW-era Ravage.

But why do a new mold when they could just repaint the existing one?

FWIW they retooled one bat cassette into a slightly different bat cassette, so them retooling Laserbeak, while frivolous, isn't entirely impossible.
