I messed up... I bought starscream and now I have to have all of the earthrise figures.

Ordered prime and astrotrain this morning.

 

So far I've mostly preferred the Decepticon Micromasters over the Autobot ones, and that feeling just keeps on truckin along.... 

 

Damn bro that's dark, and yet I still want them... anyway, you think we will get an earth ultra magnus that can hold earthrise prime's matrix?

 

I'll admit I'm a little late to the party on this one. I was going to pass on this line completely but then Covid happened, and I was stuck working from home, and now I'm 3 autobots deep. Probably going to get all the deluxe and voyager autobots. Only leader I'm going to get and have gotten is the prime. Damn I love these toys and I'm surprised because I was not impressed by the reveals initially. I am worried about build quality choices though, lots of pins and I think that's odd but maybe there's something to it. Just hope they age well, as a few of the figures from the siege figures have not aged well. Fiction joints that are just straight junk. I'm glad they have improved over the recent years with articulation and plastics, but I'm hoping ratchet joints will make a come back too.

 

I don't see much wrong with the robot itself but that spear/sword/ugly-chunk-of-tank just ruins it. Seeing as it seems to actually form a good part of the alt-mode it can't even really be passed off as just an ugly accessory.

...I'll still get it an its inevitable army of redecos though...

It's definitely the chest and abs that make it look more toon like, least in my opinion. I doubt the backpack comes off, I don't really see a reason for it to as it looks to mostly transform the same as the siege figure

I could be imagining things but was it said by John warden or some other hasbro rep that fast track could somehow combine to form a spear or staff weapon for scorponock? If that is true, I'm sure they made this megatron spear to be some sort of spearhead to combine with it. The spear does look stupid big on megatron but might look ok on scorpy.

 

Someone at toyfair did say that fast track could be scorponoks spear, but it’s mostly fan speculation that megatrons spear combines as part of it

 

Do the little Earthrise guys come with blast effects, or was that Siege only?

I got Hotlink and Netflix magnus and I am obsessed with the little blast effects. I looked on ebay for loose ones, but didn't find anything.

Looks like Commander Jetfire comes with a bunch, but I was too late for that. I'll probably pick one up on BST/Ebay in a while.

 

if you mean the guys that turn into shield, they still have the blast effects, though there more of mini explosions

IDK, given how they seemed to have designed Earthrise Optimus' front bumper/wheels piece to easily pop off the figure in robot mode to completely clean up the silhouette, and given Earthrise Megatron's backpack is a little more busy than Siege's, I'd be surprised if it wasn't designed to pop off easily.

 

Battle Masters do, but not the Micro Masters. If you're just interested in the blast effects, there are stuff available on shapeways, or from members of TFW via the Radicons section. You can even make your own using a glue gun and some paint/tint.

 

The front half of a tank is a little different than a bumper and it's really no busier than siege's backpack, it looks to be an almost identical transformation

 

It's a pity they didn't bother to engineer a new mold. I really disliked the transformation of Siege Megatron.

 

I can agree with all of this (what are they going to do after next years WFC line anyway) but I definitely need a new Voyager class Blaster. The 2 versions that you've mentioned don't even count IMO. And the FOC version is roughly SIEGE Ultra Mag's height and bulk so yeah, new Blaster please...

Hell, they could just retool SIEGE's Soundwave/Soundblaster mold and release it under that Netflix line as Blaster (equipped with 2-4 cassettes) and that could hold me over on Blaster for the next 10 years. A new updated, Sunbow accurate Blitzwing (Voyager class) would be okay to. Plus the last Jazz was trash so I passed (LOL).

Other than that World building the G1 TF universe with other obscure character like the ones you've mentioned (plus countless others) are the key to keeping my attention moving forward.

 

I'm eager to know as well. Is this release only a white Magnus or as trailer armor? If it's trailer armor and in G1 style, then both the Siege and MP22 may get dethroned as my definitive G1 UM. Will I be this lucky to get armor UM releases back to back? Only time will tell, lol.
