considering the level of involvement CN had with the production it not being on the Hub is no shock as CN don't want to draw potential viewers to a rival channel.

Also most kids have never seen G1 so unless you've done some sort of case study showing kids dislike it I'd say give it a chance.

And just some food for thought no time slot is given for all we know this could air at 9PM a time that's often not used very well on kids channels but would be perfect for some nostalgia shows for older viewers

    BLASPHEMER! SHUN! SHUN!

In all seriousness, this really isn't that big a deal. Anybody who's really that interested will have the DVDs.

You have your opinions and they have theirs. Just because you don't think it's the best series doesn't mean it's not to them. I like the G1 series the most, although it has some MAJOR animation problems. I think it's cool that they're bringing back the original series. I really hope they bring out the G1 line again. That would be awesome.

Why all the hubbub about broadcasting G1 in HD? They weren't created in HD, so who gives a flip?

I'll watch G1 whenever I want to on these nifty little DVD things.

Uhh it was shot on film, so it would look better in HD. That said, even if they did air it in "HD" it would at best just be an upscale of the DVDs. There is no way they would remaster the series in HD.

Hopefully the ratings do well enough to get Hasbro to make some more reissues. It would be nice to have some G1s that are official and cheaper than the KOs out there.

This is NOT NEWS - was confirmed by Hub a long time ago...

Behind The Voice Actors - More show news for the HUB.

An exerpt from their press release on May 17th

    "Vintage flashbacks
The Hub will exclusively re-air old episodes of the Jim Henson Company's "Fraggle Rock," and is also planning a late-night block of old "G.I. Joe" and "Transformers" episodes to attract parents and young adult males nostalgic for the '80s-era cartoons. Also getting a makeover is "Strawberry Shortcake," the American Greetings character that started a popular line of dolls in the late '80s."

Great news!! This should be a great way to get new and old fans on the same page. Definitely would like to see other series too...but I have to admit I would love seeing subbed Japanese series..even if they are horribly cornball. BEAST WARS 2 --I need to see that. LION not MUNKY!!

They wouldn't have to (maybe). Most of the time when film is remastered it is done so with a very high resolution and then scaled back for dvd. So Rhino may already have a 1080p (or higher) HD master.

Actually they were Cell drawings in their original resolution are above HD its just that when their converted to be put on tape from their Masters for home use the compression turns them into standard def this is how Disney are remaking all their classic movies onto blue ray.

Saying that its expensive and requires a lot of time as your basically re-mastering the whole thing and theirs no real pay off unless you want to freeze frame every animation error in 1080p

And this would matter if the original tapes were in what we considered to be "HD". As I recall, recent DVD sets have used cleaned-up versions of broadcast master tapes that weren't in the greatest condition. Rhino's much-maligned DVD sets used pre-broadcast tapes that were of a much cleaner visual quality, but had traded that off with numerous animation mistakes that weren't there in the broadcast masters.
