    I don't like games on mobile devices. But I pre-registered. RPG sounds nice.

    Sounds like another "Freemium" game but at this point I don't mind replacing that Space ape one anyway.

    First duplicate of a character gives the character an extra ability. Any further duplicate of the same character makes that ability stronger.

    Well, the 1-star, 2-star, 3-star, and 4-star versions of a character are counted as different things, so you can have one of each of those.

    But once you have, say, a 2-star Rhinox, the first time you pull a duplicate 2-star Rhinox, you'll awaken his signature skill (in his case, called "Overclock"). And every time you pull another 2-star Rhinox, no matter how much later, you will strengthen his signature ability (up to level 99, I think).
