I'm still bummed they never did a TF MMORPG back during the genre's hayday. I can't think of a better franchise suited to having tons of cookie cutter generic PC's running around in a factionalized conflict, constantly killing things to finds stuff to upgrade themselves.
A WOW style TF game would have been wild still hoping reactivate will be a tf warframe type game if it gets released
I'm thinking a Zelda-like could be cool. Here's my pitch : Centuries before the great war, the Quintessons reigns on planet Cybertron. Their imposed caste system keeps the population oppressed, allowing them to exploit it as a cheap automaton workforce. Those who resist this order, calling it the great deception, are casted aside in the sea of rust, left to be scrapped by the planet's harsh ecosystem. In this difficult times, a lone wanderer travel to the capital of Iacon, located next to the accursed lands. Basically, the sea of rust and maybe a part of Iacon would be a semi-open world like Ocarina's of time Hyrule field (Or Majora's Mask Termina) where the unamed player would meet many of the future Decepticon/Autobot as they quest to find a way to A) unite the planet against the Quintessons, B) Chase them away from the planet. I can see Starscream and Prowl obeying the Quintesson as their Air and Ground Commanders (out of desperation to safeguard cybertron) and so being sort of antagonist until the final act where, OF COURSE, Starscream pull a Starscream and betray the Quintesson when he see he can sent them packing. Player could be seeking Vector Sigma, which lead to a dungeon. Dungeons inspired by Majora's Mask (mostly the snow dungeon, closest thing we got to an autobot-made dungeon with theGoron roll ability). And the cybertronians could be getting their nicknames as the stories/side-quest goes, in a slow rebellion against the Quintesson.
