I really liked this comic too bad it didn`t last,I would like to see more 19th century transformers in action, plus I would buy the toys if hasbro would make them.

I'd rather see toys of the dinosaurs at the beginning.

Hearts of Steel suffered from Furman's biggest flaw too for his mini-series stories. He spends the first three issues building up the world into something grand then gives himself very little space in the fourth issue for a decent satisfying payoff.

1980s Furman knew how to properly pace a self-contained story within a limited amount of pages. He told some memorable 11 page stories in Marvel UK, and even most of his b&w 5 page stories were decent.

Hearts of Steel was not Furman. Chuck Dixon was the writer.

I forgot that. Still the same issues though.

Hearts of Steel got a brief continuation in Infestation 2, and according to solicits, it's making another comeback in the upcoming Revolutionaries book. So it's not quite dead.

I love this mini-series! It really got me hooked with IDW Publishing's iteration/s of Transformers comics, and it was one of the first few TPBs that I read after starting off with several Dreamwave back issues. The art was my favorite part of it all (the second being the appearance of John Henry), since just like with DW's War Within the alternate universe alt-modes for the Autobots were very interesting for me to visually analyze.

Solid story; I ought to dig up my copies and reread them sometime.

I remember it was supposed to launch a whole subset of alternate universe Transformers stories.

I was into the whole conceit, but the story - quite literally - fell off a cliff at the end of the final issue.

And the return to that universe was a let fown as well. But the solicitations made it sound so awesome. Steampunk Transformers and Nikola Tesla fighting Lovecraftian Terror Gods,
    Be still my quivering nerdboner.

But sadly 2 issues wasn't enough space to do the concept justice. Especially when an entire issue was wasted on waking up Optimus.

It's a huge exaggeration to say that a lot of those issues are "Hearts of Steel stories". Only X-Files Conspiracy: Transformers #1 and Revolutionaries #5 have any actual HOS content in those series.

IIRC the appearances in the X-files crossover was a bit part at best. But I haven't actually read it so dont take my word on that.

On the other hand, I hope Revolutionaries#5 is gonna be a TF-centric issue with one of the other teams (Joe, Action Man, Micronauts) as supporting cast to the Hearts of Steel bots. If thats the case then I can't wait for the preview!

Well, the Revolutionaries will be the main characters, given, y'know, it's their comic.

It'll no doubt follow the standard format of: Revolutionaries fight a guest villain (Cobra Commander) with some help from some guest allies (Hearts of Steel TFs).

I included the others, because I think they need to be read to understand the full story.

Sounds more like it's going to be a flashback story, and that the HoS TFs may not necessarily be good guys.

And Hearts of Steel Bumblebee just showed up in Revolutionaries #3, so it looks like he will be in a few issues of this comic.
