The fight choreography in Earthspark makes the Prime/Megatron battle in Transformers: The Movie look like the Vader/Kenobi fight in A New Hope.

(which honestly makes sense as that was likely its inspiration anyway)

Yeah, liked what we saw of her but name's gonna take some getting used to.

Then again we live in a franchise with Gears.

Yeah, Hashtag is silly, but there have been worse names.

Yea, names like JP-93, DK-2, B-127 are significantly worse than a name like Hashtag.

B-127 I can kind of let slide since that just a temp thing for the movie.

DK-Guard on the other hand is my mortal enemy.

Also, Unit-2. They couldn't be bothered to give Tigatron a real name?
Relatedly, most attempts at a pre-Megatron name for Beast Megs. Gnashteeth? Galavar?
Big Convoy. We could make a list.

"Hashtag" isn't even the worst name in Earthspark. That would be Laserbeak.

What are you even talking about? They are very clearly gender coded from the very beginning of G1, and explicitly female Autobots are introduced as part of the ongoing millions-of-years-old history of the species early on. "Transformers don't have gender" is something that was never discussed in the fandom until weirdos started freaking out that some of them were gay in the IDW comics. Gender is a social construct, and TFs have always used it in every version of the fiction for almost 40 years now. One terrible Simon Furman story doesn't invalidate four decades of storytelling that says otherwise.

To be fair, Unit-2 wasn't Tigatron's pre beast name, it was his cop designation, Unit-1 was named Nitrostreak for example. I definitely agree with you on the pre beast Megatron names, they've all been garbage.

Okay, had time and decided to watch the season.

    Pilot. Fairly strong episode.
I found Dot and Megatrons friendship to be quite refreshing and humorous. I like the cartoon-like effects for Megatrons blast and the BBQ fire. Robbie was annoying, but the rest of the cast has potential.

    3. Meh.
I'm not a big fan of Bumblebee's supercar alt-mode. I'm not a bug or bust kind of guy, but they're going in the wrong direction IMHO, with him getting into such a high end performance alt-mode. The plot itself felt kind of weak. The only highlight was Megatron and Elita-1 taking Bumblebee's call during the episode.

    4. Kind of a family preachy episode.

    5. All over the place.
I expected to see the Decepticon prison, but it was nice to see that Optimus isn't comfortable with it.

    6. Man, Robbie really is a little bitch. I think at this point that the rest of the cast have found a good rhythm and characterization.
Wheeljack is good, though it seems that the Animated tradition continues, Animated, then Cyberverse, now Earthspark all have the facial hair.

    7. Oh ho, a plot emerges! Best episode after the pilot IMHO.

    8. Now we're cooking with gas! Megatron episodes seem a level above.
I realize this show is aimed at children, but it was bizarre that no one suspected that this was a long con, pun intended. Starscream being alive is unexpected.

Finale. Wow. The action sequences were on a completely different level Well I see now that the uproar about gender neutral pronouns was blown way out of proportion.
A very strong finale, with lots of action, story, and family content. I would've liked to have seen Megatron really unleash his firepower along with Dot at the end, but hey, it was good anyway. I love that Optimus and Megatron realize the family is the future they were after, not GHOST, what a strong way to end the season. Starscream and Soundwave clearly will come into play later, and that can't be the end of Mandroid, given that he's got an unresolved history with Alex. The new bots have some pretty lame names.

Overall, I like the blending of the CGI high detail and the old fluid animation style for things like beams, smoke, and fire. The characters mostly had a greater depth, the pilot and finale had phenomenal action sequences. The relationship of Dot with Megatron was great and added a lot. In a less kid-friendly series, we'd have gotten a lot of intrigue with GHOST and the Alliance, which would've been nice, but this is a kids show and I won't fault them for having family friendly stories.

Robbie wore on me hard, it felt like he was a crutch of a plot device for too many episodes. Outside of the ends, a lot of the rest of the episodes were either weak or outright skippable, IMHO. It almost felt like the pilot and finale were part of an original pitch, with the rest of the series following what the studio wanted the show to focus on.

IMHO, it has already blown Prime out of the water. The action sequences were better, the characterization has already been far richer, and the world is populated. Plus the series is clearly about something.

I'll say again, I'd purchase a Legacy (or whatever the current/next line is) Voyager Earthspark Megatron.

Came here to see how people were reacting to Nightshade's gender, was pleasantly surprised by some of the responses to the guy who "checked out".

Anyway I am LOVING this. Excellent animation, fun characters (though I admit I think Robby needs to get it together), spectacular voice cast. Looking forward to the toys. Hope we get season 1 part 2 soon, I genuinely had no idea all 10 episodes went up on Friday until I logged into my P+ to watch some Lower Decks.

The fights so far are SO goated

Also a storyboard of the scene. The goat was “to make something that gave me the same level of excitement when I saw the first Transformers movie in theaters”.

Best in the franchise yeah no. But one of the best we’ve gotten IMO definitely. Some of the shots like the person that storyboarded it said some of the shots felt like something I’d see in a LA film.

Some I would say are the Prime vs Megatron volcano fight from Prime, the Forest fight it ROTF are two that come to mind. But I got a problem with the forest fight with how weak Megatron is in that.

BUT again I should say I LOVE the fight we got in Earthspark but IDK if it's the best, mainly cause it's still new.

So many badass scenes in this fight, and some of the most creative uses of an Axe I've seen.

Not to mention, Megatron using things to his advantage in a way where you go 'huh, why'd he never do that before?'

Some serious finisher moves in this fight

Indeed like using his fusion cannon to pile drive someone to the ground. Or even to get to the grow quickly. Really great camera movement and choreography in the film.

It one of the best fights for sure.

I found it on YouTube. It's interesting that they started it out as a sort of nod to the old running away psa.

Robbie and Mo act like typical siblings. Hey, it's hard moving to a new place when you're a kid away from all your friends. Not everyone adapts well.

The character designs are a tad unappealing. I never could bring myself to fully love the lanky prime/rid15/cyberverse designs, and the movement feels frenetic and kind of...floaty? Disjointed? Skippy? The backgrounds look great. It's nice to see that cybertronians are already an established presence on Earth. You can only do the "We're here for the first time gig" so many times before it gets old.

So far it's okay. Not bad, not great.

Oh, the tron-esque music is sorta neat and appropriate.
