I am not making any judgements on political correctness, but those caricatures look nothing like those guys besides the big round glasses. The blonde one has a blonde mustache and roundish face, but the caricature has a brown mustache and ovalish face. The other one has bangs and a normal sized mouth, but the caricature has a round hairline and giant mouth. I understand that caricatures exaggerate a person's features, but these things are giving these guys exaggerated features that they don't have.

    ^This

No that style of caricature comes from Asians. No different from Bob Hopes drawing wit the racist nose and chin, oh wait that's just the definition of caricatures... Time Square artist drawing portraits of people as caricatures come near close to these images but in context where the people who paid for it love it, vs some one seeing it on the internet later going oh look, slant eyes on a Chinese person, or super thick lips on a Black person ahhh racist! No.. Context matters. Just because YOU think that from YOUR conception is exactly that. You projecting and insistently trying to explain why it should be racists. Its all context.

In anycase back to the toy itself...

Sooooo getting these because I LOVE DOWNTOWN!!!

You make a good point about context. But you can't deny that they do look like those old WWII cartoons. that's all I was really trying to say.

I'm not denying it, I'm just saying since its not made by the Americans of WW2 against an enemy of the state its all good. I've live in Japan for 4 years, and these self portraits are pretty tame. Heck "Attack on Titan" rando titans are caricature pretty extreme that some outside of Japan would consider them bad. But yea Context.

Some of you guys must be so fun at parties, so narrow minded.

Trying so hard to find the needle in a haystack, what do you get out of when someone agrees with your nonsense? Stop the production?

I'm thinking that it'll come with "Matsumoto, Outto!" or "Hamada, Outto!". And that'll be great!

If anyone told you that'd Headmasters would be a thing again, you wouldn't believe them, either. Really, five years ago, I don't think any of us would have thought Has/Tak would bring Combiners/Target/HeadMasters back whatsoever... Heck, five years ago, TF Prime was still the current thing... we were just shy the Thrilling 30 stuff.

You're saying Japan is NEVER racist? :lol

Have you seen Hetalia Axis Powers? Just tell me you approve of that anime, and our conversation can be done. There's nothing to say if you think tackling complex WWII issues with pretty boys is appropriate (or at the very least, basing an anime on such things).

I love Japan; I don't condone precocious racism like blackface.

Dude, if your definition of "love" is blind worship...

You can love a country and still question some of its moral choices. Did you know Japan planned a sneak attack on the USA, years ago?  So... if I love Japan... I'm not allowed to say "Pearl Harbor" or question the look of these caricatures?

Japan is constantly being racist. There's barely any multiculturalism there, so not enough people can be offended - at least, that's the issue I see. I guess the problem with questioning these designs is that they're ASIAN caricatures from an ASIAN country. Fine. The argument wins here: Asians are never racist to Asians! :lol  But seriously, it is possible these horrible caricatures came from WWII images meant to vilify the Japanese people! I can't prove it, but the Japanese are no strangers to "borrowing" cartoon styles from the USA, so it's not outside the scope of possibility. Anyway, it's not a real issue to me, so I can drop it.

Just amusing that so many people want to defend these caricatures as though they personally know the actors and/or artists. I think Americans are just sick of being so politically correct, and I definitely understand that. Lucky for everyone, these can be as "racist" as they want to be because no one cares in Japan! :thumb

So to fulfil your need to be superior to the Japanese in some way you impose rules on them for stuff that American artists did. Truly envy is the mother of 'morality'.

You'll be surprised what some people will do to feel good about themselves.
