Something about the dotm line felt more like the 2007 line but something to me felt off and I don't know why I loved the ledgends class and I loved the mech tech characters and weapons but something's off ,thoughts?

The line was surprisingly good, considering they are very well articulated figures with plenty of 5mm compatibility, making them very versatile molds.

DOTM Bumblebee is actually better than HFTD Battle blades bee, In my opinion. Considering most movie bumblebee molds had a habit of having that hands are palms up.

Oh,hohoho... And don't get me started with the Human Alliance basics.

IMO, for movie toys, they were below average.

Gotta be honest it was my least favorite movie line. The figures were all just...boring for me, and that even included Mad Max NASCARformers.

...except for the fact the only way to get a complete set was of legends or paying &/00+.

I personally think they were some of the best figures we've ever gotten.

    Pros:
    • The plastic felt great
    • The paint was pretty good
    • The engineering was absolutely amazing
    • Lots of nice character uses (i.e. The Target and Walmart exclusives)
    • Also the store exclusives were the best things I've ever seen in a transformers toyline
    • Megatron Tanker Truck which also happened to have a hooded cape
    • Most of the Mech-Tech weapons
    • The entire Cyberverse line (I regret skipping on some)
    • Ultimate Optimus Prime
    • Deluxe Barricade was one HELL of a figure
    • The repaints
    • The packaging
    • Human Alliance
    • The Wreckers
    • That Cyberverse Roller from the Ark Playset

    Cons:
    • Lack of Human Alliance Topspin
    • Voyager Optimus
    • The figures that didn't make it to America
    • All of the Bumblebees aside from the standard Deluxe, Walmart and Target Deluxe Bee, and the Cyberverse Bee
    • Voyager Optimus
    • Sideswipe
    • Voyager Ironhide
    • Voyager Optimus
    • The downsizing
    • The rest of the Mech-Tech junk (Barricade's Claw-Gun)
    • Deluxe Bee's lack of paint
    • Voyager Optimus
    • Deluxe Mudflap and Skids
    Anything else?

Hmmm, how did you find the DOTM line boring per chance? Is it from the sheer basicness from it?

I think found the Dotm like kinda exciting from the large focus on 5mm ports, it led me to discover some neat possibilities because of it.

Overall I enjoyed the toys. Overall I'd say the Deluxes did the best job at simplifying the transformations, compared to ROTF, yet maintaining a good level of screen accuracy, which the 07 line sorely lacked.

I didn't really care for the weapons, looking back I don't recall there being a lot of paint, and they used the unprinted grey plastic quite a bit.

True but the first movie toys had a lot of playability as bulkier yet solid toys

Majority of the line was good. Legends in general, but legends optimus with trailer was great! Really liked leaders sentinel prime, Ironhide, and Bumblebee. Deluxe optimus with trailer was good so were the HA wreckers. I even enjoy ultimate optimus. Not to fond of voyager optimus, or the canceled in the U.S. tail end of the line that became asia exclusive.

There was a fgeneral feeling at the time that they were a step down from ROTF/Hunt for Decepticons and that was probably true. It probably was the begining of the quality slide. None the less compared to some of what followed (including AOE), they were mostly pretty great.

The new Sideswipe mould was tons better than the ROTF version. And Darksteel is a glorious deco for that mould.

Recessionformers had it's high points. Deluxe Starscream for example. And sideswipe.

But it also had some low points. The Voyager Optimus Prime continues to pale in comparison to pretty much every other voyager prime released, not the least of which was the HFTD Battle Blades Optimus Prime from the prior year.

I thought it was pretty decent. Yeah, the paint apps sucked on the Deluxes, but the figures themselves had great sculpted detail, without being as overly complex as ROTF's lineup. I think it's because of this line that I became interested in customizing figures in the first place. I also don't get the hate for the DOTM Voyager Prime. Yeah, the truck mode's a bit gappy, and ROTF Leader Prime is the better display piece, but there's almost no kibble letting down the robot mode, and he looks fantastic in a variety of poses.

I think the toys were pretty good overall, in some cases -- like Sideswipe -- better than RotF.

    BUT

They are severely hurt by lack of paint.

Of course, compared to a lot of what we've had since, some of them now feel like they're covered in paint.

And yeah, a lot of the Cyberverse figures -- particularly the Commanders -- were spectacular. DotM (and TFP) is really when that size class came into its own.

For me I liked dotm....it was for me an accepted decrease in quality when it comes to tf toys.....last good tf line in my opinion...haven't had much interest in anything past it

Most of my DotM toy purchases were Cyberverse class. I really didn't want to spend that much on movie figures and these guys were decent and affordable.
