On Activision’s website, there have been listings for a bunch of their legacy titles as being discontinued and no longer supported.

One of these games includes Transformers: Dark of the Moon, a third person shooter movie tie-in released back in July, 14 2011 by High Moon Studios on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Upon trying to log into the Multiplayer servers, users will get the following message: “ERROR - The TRANSFORMERS Dark of the Moon server is not available at this time. Please try again later.” It will frequently flop into between “connecting” and receiving an “error”.



On Activision’s website, it reads:

The following is a list of games developed and/or published by Activision that have diminished or discontinued services.

In most cases, online functionality—including multiplayer gameplay and in-game or in-app transactions—is disabled where applicable. Also, these games will no longer receive title updates, patches, or bug fixes. For some of these titles, offline features such as campaign will remain unaffected.

Support for these games is also reduced. Warranty replacements are no longer available, we will not be able to assist with issues related to stats/rank, leaderboards, or transactions, and technical support may be unavailable or limited to basic troubleshooting.

Given the news, whether Activision chooses to put the other Transformers games like ROTF, WFC, FOC etc in their crosshairs remains to be seen. But there is no better time to experience these games than now before they are all potentially gone.

Of course, as it says, offline functionality like with campaign modes is here to stay.

Well, the title was published by Activision along with numerous other Transformers games which ended with Transformers: Devastation.

 

I guess I am taking the term legacy differently. But yeah, you're right.

I could understand The War and Fall of Cybertron series, but this is no loss what so ever.

 

Considering that ROTF had the best gameplay out these MP games, including FOC, movie games have their place in my opinion.

This is really sad

 

I’m shocked I know nothing last forever in streaming but I never expect something happen with physical video games that are made

 

I was literally playing this a few weeks ago. So sad. My childhood keeps on disappearing.

I remember when the servers for Metal Gear 3 were taken down. And it wasn’t even that long into its life. If it can happen to MG, it can happen to any game.

 

I actually got excited for a quick second and thought Hasbro and Activision teamed up to port this over to the PS4 and Xbox One. It’s one of my favorite TF movie games behind ROTF. Shame they’re shutting down the servers, but I’m surprised they lasted this long. It’s been almost 9 years.

This game was underrated compared to the WFC titles, super fun multiplayer. I remember only playing Shockwave, he's slow and cant transform, but he was extra strong

 

Dang. Want to play as Cranckcase, Ratchet, Warpath, or Shockwave? Nope, multiplayer\'s gone. Remember when you paid money the play as Sideswipe? Welp! Too bad.

Honestly though, I doubt the servers were still teeming with players when they shut it down. It does kinda suck though that people will not be able to play specific characters anymore.


ROTF has the best movie game multiplayer anyways
