Interesting, however, the renders are typically way off in terms of how the real transparent plastic will look.

Not going to rag on them, but yeah, the Targets here are getting the latest waves fairly easily, including Ramjet and Deadend. Still haven't seen Rack'nRuin yet, who is the only one my son wants from the non-Deluxe figures.

Lots of pics in this post: Cyberverse Deluxe Hot Rod and Grimlock

Overall: Despite the cheaper feeling plastic compared to WFC figures, these definitely are true Deluxe figures with much improved posability compared to the rest of Cyberverse figures. The blast effects in Wave 2 are better and are actually transparent rather than translucent. Each figure has its own quirks.

Hot Rod: Figure really needed some more yellow to break up all the orangey red. Otherwise, this is a good representation of the animated character. The main negative is the ridiculous panel arms, which look much worse in person. Side-to-side shoulder joints are extremely stiff. The wings come off rather easily; I almost thought I broke the wings when taking the figure out of the packaging but they are just loose. The legs extend by sliding. The left knee on mine doesn't lock as well when extended compared to the right. Hip rotation is there but is clunky and somewhat limited by the hip corners. The blast effects stay in place with small rectangular pegs although have regular blast effects ports to use on other figures / accessories. No blasters. Has double jointed elbows.

Edit: Hot Rod is the easiest Deluxe to transform.

Grimlock: This is a great representation of the animated character. No swords or blasters but instructions say to use his blast effect as some sort of firey club of doom. Crown may be used in both modes. Most difficult transformation yet for Deluxe figures...partly due to very annoying instructions. Has, uh, blast effects ports on his pelvis. Head movement is on a balljoint and moves well in all directions. Hip joints have difficulty staying in the socket (wouldn't have been so bad if the thigh rotation joints weren't so tight). His legs don't cover up robot mode parts well in alt mode. The small dino arms are molded in and can't move. In alt mode, the "elbow" joint only allows for side movement.

    Robot mode with accessories attached:

Panel arms are worse in person:

    Alt mode with accessories:

Grimlock's tail area doesn't quite cover up all the robot mode parts in alt mode.

Bonus picture #1 - Hot Rod actually fits in Earthrise Optimus Prime's trailer (Bumblebee is the other only Deluxe figure that fits):

Bonus picture #2 - Maccadam parts

    Personal ranking:
    #1 Optimus Prime
    #2 Bumblebee
    #3 Shockwave and Grimlock
    #4 Hot Rod
    #5 Megatron

Skyfire went on a scientific expedition to Zebes to study the metroids. Despite his guide's warning, he still underestimated how dangerous they could be.

i still plan on getting all the deluxes they all do look pretty good but i'm really disappointed in hot rod. they've been good with the details on these figures so i'm pretty shocked at how plain he looks. he should have the yellow spoiler i can't believe it's just red. i expected more out of him. even the warrior version has a yellow spoiler

First, thank you for taking the time to take all of those pics. :D

Second...I think they've convinced me not to bother moving forward with this line.

The huge drop in paint in a span of less than two months just kills these guys for me. Grimlock is almost tolerable, but Hotrod looks positively horrible without paint.

Sorry Hasbro, but I'll look at the line again in a year or so if you re-release these guys with some actual paint apps on them.

Some art show alt mode with just a red spoiler but robot mode consistently has the yellow wings. Almost tempted to make a yellow set for my son.

Hot Rod really needed more yellow. Maybe Shockwave used up all the paint budget during the last wave. All the yellow on Grimlock is actually painted, which may get scuffed during transformation from the dino neck.

I disagree. For me at least, Bumblebee and Windblade carried Season 1.

Ages3+. They still have Grimlock but Hot Rod has been sold out. EE used to have just Grimlock in stock but it looks like they took down the listing for some reason. For Hot Rod, all I see currently is eBay with a significant upcharge. Surprised Hasbro Toy Shop on Google Shopping and Walmart hasn't listed them yet (they were first for wave 1 way before anybody else). They'll probably show up in Target soon enough.

Yep, there's official confirmation that Deluxe Arcee is Wave 3 and Deluxe Thunderhowl is Wave 4. Since some places were already selling Grimlock and Hot Rod, didn't expect their street date to be in May.
