The new Optimus Prime from the Cyberverse BAF Deluxe Wave certainly seems confident enough to hold up with the best of them.

After all, he does carry the Matrix of Leadership just like other Primes.

But unlike most other Primes, this bot’s Matrix carries some firepower.

Impressive.

This version of Optimus Prime is a sleek take on the Autobot Leader. He’s VERY articulated and for a more kiddy-fied cartoon version of Prime, he’s quite cool. Robot mode is very nice. Somewhat awkwardly proportioned with the big arms and lanky legs connected to a blocky frame, it’s all still very well balanced. Cyberverse Prime has a unique look and pulls it off well. Truck mode is interesting, but still just as awkwardly proportioned.


The cab compacts and cleans up nicely. It’s a very sharp looking truck mode. As for the awkward proportions....,


It’s all concentrated in the bumper, which looks more like a battering ram. It’s huge compared to rest of the frame of the truck, but it weirdly works and gives this Prime a little something more unique and that’s cool. Also, really love the paint apps on the front here. Between those and the vibrant red and blue, this Prime is a striking figure.

See? Striking. These new Cyberverse Deluxes continue to impress. Offering new spins on previous designs and getting rid of clunky gimmicks, Hasbro has finally come up with a new aesthetic for this line that is just plain fun. Can’t wait for Wave 2!

 

The new ER Prime does the wheels on the back closer to any of the Cyberverse figures.

The battering ram bumper made me think that he could be an interesting bait for a CV Motormaster.

Ehh, The crown looks cute but mostly a turnoff for me, probably should have been an accessory. Hot rod just looks bad to me, plain and simple.

I simply can't love CV Grim. His robot altmode looks good, but his primary t-rex mode is oddly proportioned and looks sunken and saggy. Plus the head sculpt is very weird.

I've seen pics of deluxe Prime with the Cybercerse trailer from last year, anyone who has both, do they actually connect? Seen it storing Bumblebee in car mode too.
