Am I the only one who enjoys this show? I believe it to be the best of the Unicron Trilogy.

It’s got an incredible scale: from characters from Cybertron and Earth, it extends to include the planets (and their residents) of Velocitron (Override, Ransack, Crumplezone), Animatron (Scourge, Snarl), Gigantion (Metroplex, Menasor), Planet X (Sideways, Soundwave) and finally the Transformer gods Unicron (whose presence is still felt thanks to the black hole he created) and Primus (who himself appears from Cybertron near the end). It’s the kind of fantasy worldbuilding that STAR WARS and WAR PLANETS are made of, and it is awesome.

And despite the interstellar scope, the majority of the cast and characters are handled fairly well, giving most characters their share of screentime/arc/development: Override joins a greater battle beyond competition, Scourge learns to look beyond the use of brute force, Metroplex learns to forsake the past for the sake of the future, Mudflap finally finds where he belongs... great stuff.

In fact, I think this has the best use of female Transformers ever – Override and Thunderblast make for great watching: Override as the strong and capable Velocitron leader who eventually thinks past the next race, and Thunderblast as a sneaky fickle henchgirl (her catfights are great to watch). Most other TF verses don’t focus on female Transformers too much: the only really notable (also GOOD) ones are G1 Arcee and BW Airazor and Blackarachnia.

Finally, the show ends with the greatest wedding photos EVER:

Image:Tf galaxy force vol 13.jpg - Transformers Wiki
Great way to end the show. Now if only we could have had an actual wedding for DOTM...

Anyway, are there any other fans of CYBERTRON?

Second best series, Armada being the best. I love the story, the characters, just everything.

Cybertron seemed less a good show and more a not bad dub, like the dubbers had an actual idea for the show and had plenty of time to do it all, as opposed to the rushed "what the hell are we even doing?" production of Armada and Energon.

Not to say I didn't enjoy it. In fact I absolutely loved:
    + Ransack and Crumplezone
    + Sideways
    + Scourge
+ Starscream's whole "rogue Decepticon" thing actually being a decent story thread
+ Soundwave, particularly the dead-pan DJ lingo and actually using recordings as a "weapon"
+ space opera and exploring the history of the Transformer race
+ ancient Decepticons inspiring Earth's mythological monsters
+ having an actual send-off ending as opposed to "final battle, the end"

Even Armada brought me into the franchise, I feel nostalgia for Cybertron because I faithfully watched each episode on TV after school. The designs of the Transformers are just plain awesome, it has epic music and battles, and I love the Cyber Keys and Optimus's super mode and combined forms with Leobreaker and Wing Saber.

This show is the series that got me to collect permanently. Beast Wars is great but i didn't have the toys at the time of the show airing.

I love the characters and their toys. My favs are Optimus, Megatron, Hot Shot, Landmine, Starscream, Ransack, Crumplezone, Crosswise, Jetfire, Mudflap, Menasor, Scourge and Thunderblast.

The dub was fun as hell. It didn't take itself seriously and in fact the voice actors in interviews seem to recall their roles here and actually liked doing it.

It's my fourth favorite TF series and I like it way more than Prime. I personally think it's the best of the Unicron Trilogy although I think of that more as an era than a continuity. Who really likes those shows as a trilogy? Energon drags down Armada and Cybertron becomes the worst TF series ever in terms of continuity.

Transformers Cybertron was definitely on a large scale and in a big universe. Fighting a threat to the whole galaxy on five different planets and, IIRC, going into another dimension to find the last one. And on top of all that, there's Soundwave and Sideways from the destroyed planet X.

Character development wasn't the best but it was in no way bad. We got a few different personalities and some characters arcs. Although, every villain turning good except Meg, Scream, Blast and the comic duo made the conflicted loyalties and sides changing story feel repetitive and pretty insulting for Decepticon fans.

I think I read on the boards that Aron Archer said the characters had a lot of different accents to disguise the fact they all had the same personality. That is not true. While they weren't the most explored characters TF has had, they had tons of different personalities.

Optimus Prime: Heroic, kind and protective.
Megatron: Power hungry and believes whoever is strongest should lead.
Starscream: Power hungry, scheming and intelligent.
    Hotshot: Young, brave and impulsive.
Thundercracker: Playful, overestimates himself and not the most evil person out there.
    And many more.

The story was basically a big search for a bunch of plot devices but it was entertaining. All the episodes are heavily connected and each planet gets it's own story arc. There were a few mishaps like the Velocitron arc but that is forgivable.

The Decepticons' threat level was OK, starting out as a small group that could put up a big fight against the much bigger Autobot force. Then when Optimus got his Savage Claw Mode, Starscream balanced that out with some Decepticon victories. Unfortunately, it's all downhill from there as Optimus overuses his "Automatic Win" modes and it becomes a given he'll beat the Cons that exact way, ruining both the Decepticons' dignity and any sense of threat the show had.

It has it's share of flaws and isn't even close to perfect but it was a decent show and far from the worst TF series by miles.

I actually haven't seen much of the show (or A/E/C as a whole), but I do know the toys are pretty fricking cool! Even with the gimmicky cyber keys.

Cybertron is one of my most favorite. The toys are awesome and still fun to play with considering some of the offerings we have today including 3P toys.

Never watched Cybertron, but I did watch Galaxy Force and quite enjoyed it (I had trouble digesting Nitro's gender change as he was one of my fav characters).

I did like the story, and I really enjoyed a lot of the characters. But I think the thing I enjoyed the most was seeing more planets inhabited by what were once Cybertronians, but had obviously evolved to accommodate their own planet better after being cut off from Cybertron.

The show also had a lot of humor and often gave me a laugh (like when Lori and Chromia were going at it while poor Nitro, Sonicbomber and Flame stood nearby trying to not get caught in the crossfire).

Terrific show. Many of the actual transformers experienced character development and growth and the obligatory sidekick kids were much less annoying than other shows.

Even better toyline. Got me back into tfs after being away since '88 and they set a standard for quality and good distributing that IMO kicks the shit out of anything that has come since. Can't say enough good things about this line.

I love Cybertron. Its hard to say if its better than Armada, as Armada's last 15 or so episodes were amazing, with the rest being rather un-enjoyable, while Cybertron stayed a bit above average for its entirety.

I enjoyed Cybertron quite a bit, and the toys were the best out of the UT. We got Cybertron as a toy, we got one of the most badass and fun to play with Optimus toys.

And i loved the cheeky references in the dialogue. Paraphrasing lyrics from "Stuck in the middle with you" and "come together". i LOL'd hard. :)

In the end, Cybertron made me really angry. The toys were pretty good for their time and the stinkers were few and far between. The dubbing was good. But... the source material (Galaxy Force) was... not. You could see from the toy bios and the website expanded bios/trivia that there were some folks at Hasbro that were really inspired. But absolutely none of it made it into the anime.

This is what convinced me for good that Transformers story should be handled by Americans only. They're more creative and more daring with their storytelling and character development.

The best way I can describe Japanese storytelling for TFs is a paint-by-numbers. They have a pre-fabricated list of tropes and idioms that cannot be deviated from, and handle it way too much like a Super Robot Anime. Having seen Animated and even Prime to a somewhat lesser degree, I never want to go back to Japanese storytelling.

But ideas like the different colony worlds and some of the unique characters (Leobreaker, Ransack, Crumplezone, Scourge, Override, just to name a few) I would LOVE to see revisited. It's not like Cybetron did nothing for the franchise. It just gets lumped in with the badness of Energon and Armada alot.
