So why not open a window for members only for a day or so? Let the members get one, THEN allow the public to go nuts.

Or limit it to one per customer for a day or two. There are a few ways you could give members a little assurance that won't affect your sales. Is it really that big of a deal if they sell out in a few days instead of 10 minutes?

If you can tell me something like this will be put in place for these, I WILL join this year.

Only members can buy these. You have to be a member to order at any time...

I think these are essentially Members Only, because if you aren't a member you have to pay an extra $40 which makes you a member.

Edit: Beaten to the punch by Pete! :)

Sorry, never been a member, so I don't know the specifics.

Since that's the case, then limit it to one per customer for a day or two. How is that going to hurt sales? Like I said, I'll join if you can tell me that I'll have a relatively painless time getting one.

I know Runamuck comes with the nice convention box, and Runabout does not. It would suck to have a nice box for one, and then the other in a plastic bag. They are a pair after all.

Its definately a tightrope whe you are trying to forecast demand. I am glad that you are already dialed in on the demand level for both of these. I am also sure that many people have offered suggestions on how to prevent another Punch/Counterpunch situation. Any chance of preorders now or in the future? Might help take some of the mystery out of the forecasting equation and it might also scare off some of the scalpers looking to take advantage of a limited product in a limited window, although from a sellers perspective that might be a bad thing.

Ahh, did you sneak in a few vocal sound effects? :D

This is going to have to be the year I join; I remember the characters, they'll bulk out the G1 season three part of my Henkei/Classics etc shelf (joining Octane and the three g1 movie cons) these are great adaptions of a great (not to mention appropriate) mold and the decos are at least as visually striking as anything on that or the Aurobot shelf!

Only thing is, I havn't heard anything about anyone in Australia getting this years figures, though I assumed that would have been close to the European distribution.

Very impressed. Digging this one more than Runamuck. Both of them will be buys for me nonetheless!

That's a wicked deco; I kind of want to paint my car like that now. This guy's easily my favorite of the two, but I can't wait to get both.

I could see that working well. Making a limit of 1 or 2 per order for a little bit so everyone gets a chance to get them. I understand the point is to sell them, but I know MMM's heartache of seeing someone online two weeks later with a picture of eight of the same exclusive figure you just wanted one of.

I think it would also go a long way into getting new members to join up, too. Take the scare out of getting the awesome exclusives and people would probably feel a lot better about membership.

The preorder idea is good as well. What better way is there to gauge how many are needed?

It would work well in encouraging memberships, yes.

Where it wouldn't work very well is with international customers - eg, in my case it's more cost effective to do some sort of groupbuy if I can due to the minimum cost of shipping to Canada.

I do think though that early bird preorders would be a great idea.

This may be the first not-freebie Club figure I get.

    Here's hoping he's less than $60.

Ah, its tricky, I can see myself missing out on Runabout, but I could also see myself getting two and perhaps keeping one MISB. Not sure how the latter would be effected by having a window in which one per customer can be ordered, if this exaccerbates any interantional shipping costs, for instance. Other than that I think it's a cool and reasonably fair idea.

We can't do a pre-order to gauge numbers because we don't get a price until AFTER they are produced. Just the way things work...

    Great job on these Pete!

As for the club's plan to meet demand, why not do this: Open a pre-order RIGHT NOW and leave it open until the day that you have to let Hasbro know how many you want. Add two hundred more to that number to meet any demand from those that miss the pre-order or decide to buy after they are in stock. This would most likely satisfy demand, the club would sell more toys, everyone wins!

OK, then how about the short time frame order limit? Let's quit dancing with the can-nots and start focusing on the can-dos.

I think most of us know what the price range is going to be and I would still preorder without knowing the cost. Maybe I shouldn't tell you that....
