i'd unironically buy it
Yeah, Knight Rider and Ninja Turtles were also ones that apparently didn't pan out either. Definitely hope things change later on for all of those. The Mystery Machine and the Turtle Van/Party Wagon could even share a base mold.
When in doubt, just know it's money that's the problem. Always money. Hasbro wants to do it on the cheap, the studios want that green. If we're to ever see those figures come to life, it's going to be a bit so Hasbro can get the money together. Part of the reason they got Disney/Marvel and Sony to sign off on X Spanse (or whatever the fruck his name is) and Ghostbusters, respectively, is the pre-existing working relationships with both companies via Star Wars (Disney) and Marvel (Disney/Sony, thanks to Spider-Man). Gigawatt was their first actual deal with Universal pertaining to Transformers. You'd think Universal would've remembered Kenner doing all that work for the Jurassic Park movies all those years...but the fact they gave the license to Mattel tells me Hasbro willingly let it lapse and that probably didn't sit well with Universal.
It'll take money and some crack kissin' to get the Knight Rider license.
As for the Mystery Machine, it could be that there are no good molds to use for the van, right now, and I'm sure Warner Brothers is very particular in how the toy should look. Not to mention, another toy company has toy rights as of now.
TMNT sort of confuses me... I know Playmates had Mutations, but not for a few good years and a Transformer TMNT figure has never actually been done before. Yet, they're allowing Hasbro to make TMNT/PR Crossover figures. *roll eyes* So stupid. Hasbro's going to own everything in the end, anyway. (If they don't lose the Disney/Marvel license.)
Transformers Collaborative Squad (The X-Bots? Cross Patrol?)!
The team is coming together nicely, Maverick should be joining any day now.
I just got him in and... I'm disappointed to say that this is the one of the few figures I've handle that I outfight despise messing with (Siege Springer being the only other one).
The wings are way too floppy and fall off no matter which position I attach them on, the transformation, especially in the legs, just isn't fun, the knees are way too tight and the calves are all panels making me outright not want to move them, almost nothing in the torso area actually tabs in.
That being said, like Springer he has a presence on the shelf that I can't deny is impressive, and he fills a hole in the collection (granted he only fills that hole by proxy of being a collaborative figure that I didn't yet own).
Honestly though me not liking this figure only makes me less worried about leaving the soft plastic weapons attached, previous to this I was concerned they would melt the hard plastic but now I don't care.
You have a nice display going on there! What is that grey (botbot?) fellow with a TF face inside?
It's a little robot that comes with the Action Toys DX Bike Robo (GoBot's Cy-Kill) on the left, that you can use to hold one of the four magnetic face plates.
Has this been sighted at Target or is it just being shipped by Target so far?
Considering that we are apparently getting TMNT/Power Rangers crossover figures, I could see the Party Wagon happening eventually since there is already 1 collab deal in place
These are P.O.s that have shipped. Release date is March first.
Wow....he's bigger than I expected...
Let’s see how successful these TMNT & Power Rangers action figures sell, and its potential success should increase the chances of an Autobot Party Wagon happening.
Earthrise Ironhide could be an option to be retooled into the Mystery Machine.
When did this come about? I knew about the comic series, but not toys.
There were some leaked store listings very recently
I was kind of shocked when my tracking app dinged that he was outside my door, delivered at 8pm on a Sunday. As others have said, he's pretty fiddly like we've all gotten used to from many bayverse studio series figures over the years. He is hefty and looks great in both modes. Even knowing he was based on and as large as SS Jetfire, I still wasn't prepared for how large he really is. So onto some pictures.
In Package, the art really pops.
The very cool tray art.
With Maverick for comparison purposes.
With MP-10 for scale. Looks ready to work with the Autobots.
And the crossover gang. If these guys were a squad, I imagine he'd be in charge.
I got mine in the mail yesterday. Does anyone else have a problem with his waist being loose. It is the area above the belt. It is super loose. Makes me think of a bobble head.
Ya, the waist wobbles left/right around the pin joint that holds it together. I don't see any way of securing it.
Looking at pics, I'm guessing the upper corner dent is common? I got one from the AZ warehouse and one from AL. Both same dents but different degrees.
Also, (not my pic) anyone know what the name of the below X-men mini figs are from? They don't look like the Jada Toys ones. I'd like to add more.
I've never seen those before but some googling came up with 1994 ToyBiz Marvel Pocket Comic sets.
Separate names with a comma.
