Cool. Guessing it's probably a movie Jetfire or something along those lines.
My brain has no idea how to feel about this right now. One part wants something original like Gigawatt or Ectotron, yet the other half is like eehhh why not make it Vanquish and Fireshot(Fireshot (1990) - Decepticon Aerial Counterattack - www.tfu.info).
So uhhhh what are the odds against getting a Smokey and the Bandit Firebird or Kitt from Nightrider TF?
since the artwork shows the Jim Lee/90s Blackbird, it's probably going to be that, so not sure Snapdragon makes sense.
Be cool if they did the Byrne/Cockrum 70s/80s era Blackbird too though!
and it'd be cool if they made some tiny figures like the Jada Metal GI Joes to include with these sets.
Lets do the Avengers next lol
Now the real question is, is this going to be a Snapdragon Blackbird or a Jetfire one? Jetfire's unique posture doesn't lend himself well to a remold, but Snapdragon's altmode is very simplistic, doesn't do the plane justice. Then again, it's probably the Animated Series plane, which is pretty simplified.
If it follows current trends it'll be an original character.
That'd be a great fit for a future Commander Tidal Wave.
I hope it transforms into a Sentinal or Cerebro
I'm hoping for a new mold figure of the Blackbird, preferably very big and not cheap looking at all
Can't wait to see a Blackbird with a whole robot hanging off its belly.
A blackbird retool from Snapdragon with Wolverine head and accessories and a multi-pack of Headmasters and accessories based on other X-men!
SS-35 Jetfire Retools ?
Very excited for this news, I'm expecting it to be a Snapdragon retool as studio series Jetfire would be too big and expensive as a crossovers product.
I'm not sure Studio Jetfire would work given how unique the bot mode is. Unless they really overhauled it.
I wonder if they'd go balls out and adapt Commander Jetfire to give us a really big Blackbird.
Also, really hope it's the Blackbird. Would be an odd PR move to specifically use it in the promo.
The one thing in its favor is that Marvel is a big enough fan base that crossover appeal could make the price tag a moot point. Especially if they nail the (presumably) Blackbird mold.
I'm just going to wait and see on this one. I bought Gigawatt because he's an interesting figure and looks like he'll fit in well with my WFC collection. If this is something like that, I may be interested. If it's like the other crossover figures, I'll pass.
In any case though, the concept is intriguing. I'm not a big X-Men guy in terms of the overall franchise, but I did love the animated series back in the 90's.
I'd almost consider putting money on this being a maverick retool.. With Cerebro helmet, Cyclops visor, and wolverine claws..
If nothing else, there's plenty of Marvel Jada Metal figures just like the GI Joe ones
Gigawatt and Ectotron are almost entirely reshelled though, meaning if it is Snapdragon then the jet mode won't look identical anyway. They could make it work however they wanted.
The ultimate plastic color and paint colors made the figure look so cheap and fake.
