Right, like the upcoming Bay produced Bumblebee movie?

The sad thing that a lot of these Bay supporters do is conflate having a distaste for Bayformers with "everything must be identical to G1".

You realize the Bay movies, starting with the first one, are literally just a crappy iteration of G1, don't you?

I am all for something completely new, provided it's DONE WELL and WITH CARE

I hope the future direction of the cinematic franchise isn’t absent for too long, returns rich in Transformers lore/history, has pleasing aesthetic designs, quality writing/acting, and staying power.

I love it when nerds take responsibility for the success of a franchise.

Part of me wants to finish the story now that they have shown Unicron's horns, but all of me knows that that ending would be just terrible and end in disappointment.

One of the things I want from this reboot? Someone other than Peter Cullen to voice Optimus. Let the man retire and give us an Optimus who doesn't talk like he's falling asleep and says stuff beyond stock speeches about war is the freedom of all darkest hour tired stuff.

The real reason why this it's happening it's because of normal people, who attends to the theaters, theyre not interested in it and got a TF fatigue due having the same mess.

It's thanks to them, not from us.

Blame the writers. Cullen was great in TF Prime.

Not the point I was trying to make. I was just saying I hope they do something different than the pilot episodes in G1 and the 2007. In other words something different that Autobots and Decepticons for the first time. I'd love something a little more out there. Something that subverts expectations for the first film in a reboot.

    1) "Crappy" is subjective in this instance.

    2) In the past you and your buddies seemed to mock the idea that this series was heavily based on G1. I have argued that they are indeed heavily inspired from the source material:

    Finally !

I hope this retcon trend pushes through ( supposedly Terminator & Robocop back to their respective roots too ).

Will the characters actually resemble what they should this time? Or will it be more random designs and nameslaps?

Yes, praise that shameless Star Wars ripoff that killed all our favorite characters to sell us new toys. Praise it indeed.

So, am I the only one that sees the following scenerio possibly happening?

The Bumblebee Movie comes out and it is what we all hope and want it to be: a smaller, more personal story that deal with characters and actually develops Bee and the few transformers in it. Hasbro announces a Sequel which becomes the 2021 event, which introduces more of the Autobots but in the 80s. Then, assuming GI Joe and the other stuff they want to do hits, we get an Avengers Style film in 2025.

    Finally.

I really hope that they’re able to give us a respectable movie at some point.
