They no longer control creative direction. Fact is bumblebee had to be a reboot because no amount of mental gymnastics can make it fit with the last knight (ww2 scene) or the 07 movie (the movie says that it’s the first time they’ve been to earth and they went because of the allspark not to set up a base and regroup)

Ok, well, thats good....I guess. I just see them listed as "producers" and assume they still have some kind of say in the direction of the movies. I'm not versed in Hollywood's hierarchy. If they did, I felt like it didn't matter that it was a reboot. With them at the helm, it still could go in a wonky direction. I guess I'll reserve my judgment until I don't see them in the credits anymore.

Hasbro is on record as not having been happy with where the films went with AoE and TLK, so they're now much more in control of their own franchise again.

When people bring up the producer status, I like to remind them that Spielberg has been attached as an executive producer to all the way up to TLK and I can tell you, none these films look like Spielberg films (aside from Bumblebee ironically). And there's no way in a billion years we would have gotten a film with the same tone as Bumblebee if Bay was still attached a director. Knight has been stated in an interview that Bay let him have free reign over the film. Really, the director is the one with the largest say when making these films. Also, Hasbro has recently have gotten far more control over the movies after the disaster that was the TLK. The fact that Lorenzo, a producer for Bumblebee, has been saying it's a prequel for months and Hasbro comes out here saying it's a reboot shows how little control those producers have with these films now. There is definitely a lot more hope now than with the situation we were in before.

I know most people won’t read this, but I’ve been around here as a member since just after ROTF came out. And since then I have seen over and over again, the disappointment and frustration from the (now previous) Movie line. And after see something good like the Bee movie being the start of a more promising movie story...

    It’s bliss. Pure bliss.

    We can finally move on.

So will there be any more news from Toyfair? I was really hoping to find out more about Greenlight and Lancer.

I'd be okay if Bee has his voice repaired in the next film, but he needs to have some residual trauma from the incident, war films I feel need that. For example, when he sees another seeker, he's reminded of what Blitzwing did to him.

My problem with Infinity War was what happened with War Machine after Civil War. It was like nothing happened. As well as Infinity War and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Never will look at Infinity War the same way again.

To be honest, if they do a parallel universe story, I want a cameo from the previous movieverse as a place where things went really badly wrong ('See that pile of boulders floating in space. That's what happened after TLK....').

The next 3 movies need to have G1 Megatron then have him Transformed into G1 Galvatron.

I honestly don’t care if they go that route or not, as long as the villains (whether Megatron, Galvatron or otherwise) are distinguishable and have a discernible character and motivation.

As long as the new films are like Bumblebee, then it's fine (Maybe add a bit more action)

I guarantee those guys don’t care if it’s a reboot as long as they’re making money.

So, Bumblebee is official a reboot. I'll inform that person on my work who thought the scene with Optimus at the end was not a sign of it being a reboot, that it's actually were since we now got confirmation. :)

Well, in the Bumblebee movie we see Bee is terrified when he sees Charlie with that wrench, as he recoils backwards and touching his throat. So that part in the scene is indeed some residual trauma from the incident. But I'm not against it being showed more. :)

Personally, I'd rather not rush with the movies. There's plenty they can do, IMO, before they get to a Galvatron arc.

For example, I'd find it interesting if the Autobots ended up facing different Decepticon leaders, each with their own motivations and way of doing things, before Megatron's upgrade - Let's see, we could have Soundwave as a 'Decepticon leader' on Earth (an espionage movie, maybe), then his boss Megatron turns up and things turn really nasty. Along comes Shockwave and we can have a Marvel comics style rivalry between the two.

Eventually Starscream has his day but relative newcomer Scorponok has his own ideas. All of which falls apart due to the return of the former Megatron, now the more powerful and insane Galvatron (I really liked that version of the character in the comics).

Then it turns out Galvatron is actually from the future and his current self was simply AWOL, elsewhere. Cue Megatron ('How in the Allspark did I become a raving lunatic?'), Leader of the Heroic-by-Necessity Decepticons vs Galvatron ('You miserable weakling. You call that firepower?') movie, also starring Starscream ('Both of you. Please stop hitting me').

Okay, I got carried away, and I did steal from the Marvel comics, but my point is, let's not rush straight to the Galvatron, Unicron, etc, storyline when there's so much else they can cover first. I've always thought it was mistake for them to introduce the Fallen so early in the movie series.

They should take time to build things up, earn back the audience's trust with good movies, and then introduce the big boys.

The only reason Bay is in the credits is it was in his contract that he had to be. He had nothing to do with this movie at all.

To be frank, I am not so upset/concerned that Bay is still there, but rather I am concerned that Bonaventura is still there.

Listen to this man,for he speaks the truth.

I'm in the same boat, with the Firestormers and the Skywarp multipack added to that list.

The next Bumblebee movie (or the Optimus movie, for that matter) could explain where Megatron was during the events of Bumblebee since the events of TF2007 no longer apply to him anymore. If and when he becomes Galvatron, Hasbro should spend a while building that up. You can't just give him an upgrade all of a sudden. People would be a bit annoyed about it.

Too late. FJ Desanto is the head writer.

I’m on the opposite side of this. Optimus and Megatron have had their fun for 30 years. Let someone else have the spotlight. There are other heroes and villains to this fiction. There’s MTME Rodimus, LSOTW Overlord and even movieverse Lockdown was at least interesting.
