I agree, people have too many DVDs to just let it go to the wayside

Good thing you can play regular DVDs on a BluRay Player.
I feel so much better about my PS3 now!

The 1986 movie on Blu-ray is only one disc. The original post of the Circuit City employee specifically said it was two discs and $34.99.

I think this is a bit premature. Paramount has not made any announcement yet. There will obviously be a Bluray of the Transformers movie. But I wouldn't start holding my breath for one.

I will bet my ridiculous government salary that the sku is actually an old one. Best Buy had Transformers [Blu Ray] for a while too, on their computers, but the sku was removed.

Also, as a former employee of Bestbuy and Fry's, I can tell you that electronics stores often put items on their computer in anticipation of an eventual release, even before any announcement has been made. I remember Fry's had Star Wars Trilogy in the computer two months before LucasFilm made any announcement.

I have no doubt that PAramount wants to empty the warehouses full of BluRay TF, but I don't expect to see it until closer to summer or so.

This is entirely possible. In fact, the UPC number looks like it could have been created around or before the HDDVD version. But supposedly Paramount had already done a ton of work to get the BD version ready just before they pulled the plug. So this could actually already be done and ready to drop as soon as they print them. And since the writing has been on the wall for over a month now regarding HDDVD I wouldn't be surprised if Paramount has already starting printing them.

If they had an old SKU would they need to create a new one or could they just use the old one that was never used in the first place?

    BAH!!!

I'll just download the HD version from the local cable company's video on demand service.

It's about time they release it on Blu-Ray!

I haven't gotten to watch Transformers in HD yet.

I'm ready, thought it should have been on Blu Ray from the start.

All they would have to do (if the system is similar to the ones used by Bestbuy and Fry's) would be to set the sku from "inactive" to "active" and BOOM! the stores would send inventory requests to the corporate HQ or warehouse to fullfill orders. The only reason this wouldn't work is if a new UPC is used by Paramount (not likely, since it's been confirmed that the discs were pressed and ready for shipment)
