Ok I was looking at the Marvel crossovers line today and I thought that it would be neat to characterize a certain transformer as one of the Avengers. I'll start with an obvious one with Optimus Prime as Captain America.
Depends on which portrayal: In the comics he is more Wolverine-like, in the cartoons he is more "Hulkistic". I say: Nick Fury [616] - Kup, another obvious one. Thor - Ironhide. Black Panther - Ultra Magnus.

I'd've tagged Grimlock as Thor. That gives him the power and the arrogance. The other characters people lined up to Thor don't have the arrogance. Are we talking any Marvel character who's ever been an Avenger (which comes to roughly 85% of the characters in the Marvel Universe) or just the characters in the 2012 movie?
Loki's not an Avenger. How about: Hawkeye=Hot Rod Luke Cage=Jazz Hank Pym=Wheeljack Black Panther=Mirage Wonder Man=Jetfire
"Looks"? Black Panther: Rich, upper-crust foreign monarch whose loyalty to his own people trumps his loyalty to the Avengers, who don't fully trust him. Mirage: Rich, upper-crust hunter of turbofoxes whose loyalty to extravagance trumps his loyalty to the Autobots, who don't fully trust him. Ultra Magnus: Tall.
I dunno... maybe, but I get the feeling Black Panther can ALWAYS deal with it right now. How about Dr. Strange=Perceptor? And, of course, Jarvis=Teletraan-1.
It could be either really, but if you pick the lesser known marvel characters that aren't getting a movie I'd be sure to describe them briefly.
Since I'm not entirely familiar with the various Avengers from the comics I'm just going to use the ones that are going to be in the movie. Prime = Cap Ironhide = Thor Wheeljack = Tony Stark Brawn = Hulk Prowl = Hawkeye Moonracer = Black Widow And just for the heck of it Megs = Red Skull and Screamer is totally Loki.
These are some good picks, but I disagree with Wheeljack as Iron man. Iron man is a lot like an American James Bond in personality and the only Wheeljack I know of that fits that description is the Prime Wheeljack.
