I think they missed a shot not making the golden disc from Beast Wars but I get it throwing on the faction logo makes it an easy sale to fans and people on the fringe and might be more into the coins themselves.

Since G1 started in 1984 I don't see why they would go with 1986 unless they tied it to the movie, which they didn't.

 

On the bright side, they'll have more intrinsic value than a bitcoin.

 

How reliable are they? After looking at reviews it looks like they aren't very great. I see over sold items, hard to get refunds, items never arriving and so on. I kinda want these but think I will pass.

 

I'm impressed it's only $25. Considering it\'s literally 24 Karat which could roughly cost $1K an ounce, you\'d think it be much more.

 

Seem a bit too busy/crowded honestly. I'm a sucker for coins, but these aren't doing it for me.

Just realized after I bought them there gold plated not all gold that could be reason for cheap

It's 24K gold-plated, not solid 24K gold. Electroplating can be applied very thin so this likely has very little actual 24K gold, thus the price. Current going rate for 24K gold today via Google is approximately $1722.60/oz, so that should tell ya how much actual gold is on these things.

 

And considering how the gold looks more like plastic they didn't use that much gold now did they.

Combine that and how the design doesn't really wow me means they can keep their coins.
