They look pretty good for what they are. I’d have loved something this cheap when I was a kid.

Having said that though, knowing what Australia is like, a toy that’s $5 in the US will probably be closer to $105 over here.

I am overwhelmed with irony that a line called "Authentics" is closer to a KO than an actual KO.

Just remember these are $3 toys intended for super bargain bin bottom of the barrel prices AND quality. They aren't meant to replace anything or appeal to us, and that's why they don't. (though I still want them because a) cheap and b) cute lol.)

They're, essentially, MEANT to be "bad." Or at least of far, far inferior quality to anything else official.

    Except Megatron, he's decent.

Man, knock off companies are getting real brave these days calling their fake transformers \"authentics\". Hasbro should definitely sue.

Yeah, they are what they are and they do what they’re meant to. I mean it’s not like they’re asking Masterpiece prices for them, and then not applying some of the paint apps shown on the packaging and leaving a load of unpainted die cast...

I'm buying Megatron and Starscream for sure. They look very fun with enough detailing that they will both work perfectly for customization.
Optimus and Bumblebee... not so much.
I'm just hoping they start showing up at US stores, though the thought of stalking Dollar General is not something I'm looking forward to.

I will get them for the fun of it, they don't look too bad, but Optimus needs elbows. I might do that myself though.

It's a shame the plastic on these is so flimsy, I really liked the look of both Megatron and Starscream. I'm definitely not surprised at all since these are supposed to push literal knockoffs out of stores like Dollar General, but still. The engineering on Screamer and Megatron looks solid.

As bad as Optimus is, he'd make a better Huffer than the the other Optimus.

It's almost like they designed Starscream and Megatron first and some Hasbro executive vetoed having any real articulation on the next figures. An executive would make the decision that $5 figures can't have the features of a $10 figure since it may steal sales. I would have thought that the $20 TLK deluxe debacle would have tought the Hasbro C-Suite a lesson, but I guess they need a further schooling.

There is no excuse for garbage, even "well they're supposed to be cheap". Don't confuse inflation with margin expansion. Retail margins have expanded 5-15% depending on the chain in the past five years. This is straight money coming out of your pocket that does not come from making a better product. My local Walmart still has dozens of Wave 1 Titans Returns that have now been at the store for over a year. Is that the fault of Walmart or Hasbro?

Input costs are not higher than 2006-2012 when you got a much better figure for your money. Labor where these are being made is actually cheaper than it was in China when we were getting ROTF deluxe figures for $12, $10 at Walmart.

If a no name Chinese version of a GI Joe can be made exactly like a now $12 Star Wars toy, and sell for $4 retail, that Star Wars toy could still be $6.

An extra .5mm of shell thickness that would have improved these figures would cost fractions of pennies. Tiny clip on wheels to the inside of Megatron's tracks could have been done so the figure rolled. The cost for a bag of quality ABS pellets in Asia has barely budged in ten years. You would think they'd actually be cheaper considering oil prices have been cut in half over that time.

The reason why these toys exist are to create a low price point that equates with garbage to justify the high price Hasbro has set for their other lines. A Titans Return/POTP Legends figure now costs what a ROTF Deluxe sold for. That is insane. If you are trying to tell me that labor, plastic, paint, and shipping went up that much in about a decade to cause a figure like Windcharger to cost the same as ROTF Sideswipe, I'll call you out. Because I produce product for a living and know those things didn't happen.

    Executive greed is executive greed.

These toys are just plain bad, they are going to be easily break by children' hands. Starscream is kinda nice but the jet mode is so ugly and lazy...like this entire line.

Megatron and Starscream look like they were coming from a different line than are Optimus and Bee. Pity, because Bee's alt mode doesn't look bad... But I saw KOs with articulation better than what's on this figure.

For the price point they might be passable, but there's an obvious gap in egineering between Bots and Cons here.

I'm not sure if they'll be available in EU for their retail price and this kind of absolutely cheap custom fodder has any appeal only if one can get them at their supposed price.

I agree with most of it, but I'd still rather have these over those crappy one step changers that clogged the shelves forever. Those were unarticulated garbage.
