Okay so this post is pretty much just updates/changes I made to stuff I've previously posted in here, but hopefully it's all for the better ^^' First we got a logo Tried to make it look all nice and textured and official, but honestly I think I can do better. This'll work as a good placeholder if/when I decide to put this stuff on Tumblr though! Then we have Moonie with gold eyes and a few different armor variations The skirt helped break up the monotony from the initial concept, but it's a little too cumbersome for a city/desert racer. The one on the right is a little closer to what I want, but I think I'm gonna have to keep chipping away at it. Also, what do you guys think of the optic color? I'm not sure whether I like the gold or the blue more, I just wanted to add some variety to the general "blue = good, red = bad" pattern (and yes, I know they do have more variety than that in canon, but it'snot exactly common)
I think the yellow eyes look good on Moonracer. It works better with the rest of her circles than the bright blue, which stood out a bit. And I agree with you that the skirtless version looks a bit tidier and sleeker, which is more suited to a racer And I've only just realised that all the little patterns on her armor are some of the various stages of lunar cycle. That's very clever!
Moonracer is really looking good here. If you want to break up the monotony of the design, perhaps you can do something with the arms - you could give them a mechanical structure like the legs, or possibly patterns like what you've done with her torso. I agree with you on the skirt - it might work for a less sporty character, but it doesn't suit a racer like her. Also, the eye color is a very good choice.
I'm going to stand up for the skirt. Since she's active in the desert, it could be used to keep sand out of her joints, as a moisture condenser, as storage for some of her sniper gear (ammunition perhaps), or it could be the remnants of a vehicle-mode drogue chute.
yeah Moon racer needs bigger arms, on a slightly personal note, do you have a thing for big hips? or is that just me talking?
Those are all great points! I definitely wasn't feeling it for her in particular, but it's always something to remember when I get to designing the other racers. It's actually not just you, haha! It's not so much that I have a "thing" for big hips/thighs that I just happen to picture Moonracer with that particular body shape... and she happens to be one of the few characters I ever draw full-body. It wasn't a random choice, either - not only is she a runner, she's pretty adept at parkour, which involves more than a bit of jumping. There's a lot of power in her legs!
School's kinda kicking my ass at the moment, so I don't have anything new to share, BUT I wanted to have another throwback to make up for that. I made this one way back when Uptown Funk was still a cool song. Too hot (hot damn)
