I would say on the flap. One looking one way and other way.
Someone finaly got the upgrade right !!!!
Oh I misunderstood, didn't know the word taper (I'm german). No the final form factor will stay the way it is right now.
This just works way better.
Here is the first update. 1st version is almost done, still have to tweak a few tolerances but everything pegs in and stays together well so far.
Added the windows to the side and also made a lip out of it so the halves stay together firmly:
Made the intake part foldable 2 times so it folds up behind the arm:
left arm and right leg with the addon kit
a look from behind
leg close-up right side (the top part of the thruster part looks a bit rough, still have to change the way it prints)
leg close-up left side
that came out great man...keep up the good work.
This looks awesome! Great attention to detail and I like how in robot mode it adds some bulk to the leg. Excellent job! Would you possibly be selling a kit or just the files?
If I had a faster and better printer I would also consider to produce the parts, but the way it is now I couldn't possibly make it a viable option.
Here's the second update. It took a bit longer because I had to wait for a new PLA filament spool.
I took your suggestions for improvements to heart and also made another version with 5mm ports for turrets (or other weapons)
Also printed the other/mirrored side now and luckily everything fits as it should
Ark turret design (with a 5mm peg so other Transformers can also use it)
Adjusted connections and tolerances
Version with 5mm ports (on both sides, though you could choose if you only want one, both or none of the panels with those ports)
Still have to print the newest and updated version, but if everything fits I can finally offer it on etsy!
Here's a picture of Mainframe dual-wielding those (rather cute looking) bad boys
And a size comparison with one of Apeface's weapons
The parts work flawlessly now and I'm in the process of printing the remaining pieces.
Then I'm going to paint it to match the colors of the ark. Once this is done I'll do a little video on how it looks and works and then put it up on etsy.
Expect the last update in the coming days
There I'll also talk about what I've planned for the Ark in the future (I want to make it look as close to G1 as possible).
This makes so much sense, it's infuriating.
I've printed and painted all the parts now and made a video about it.
It's also available on etsy now!

I'll edit my initial post with all the details you'll need
It took forever for me to realize where the intake vents were hidden in robot mode.
^ This. Mr Cross 's kit substantially increases the accuracy. Now someone just needs to make something that can flare out the shoulder spaulders/pauldrons in the alt mode to squeeze out the last remaining drop of accuracy for the shape/silhouette of The Ark but, that would need to be able to collapse for the robot mode because larger spaulders/pauldrons in robot mode would look really bad. Something could probably attach to the air/friction hinge that holds that triangular piece that loves to pop off when you forget about it but, there isn't room to collapse something larger under the chest. Unfortunately, there just isn't much to work with on that half of the alt mode to try and do something really clever with.
I just watched the video so . . .
I'm now aware that a lot of clever things are in the pipeline beyond just flaring out the front of The Ark.
I think if you consider the grey painted area on the edge of the midsection to be negative space or whatever, the ship does kind of maintain that shape.
You would also have to consider that colour everywhere else on the alt mode to be the same thing and only look at it from a bird's eye view. I'm all for suspending belief but pretending that isn't the forearm and the elbow is a bridge too far for me personally.
That having been said, you do bring up a good point. That painted area both shouldn't physically be there, based on the proximity of other parts like where the Autobot insignias are, the distance from the dome, the line break for the triangular pieces hinged to the chest, and so on. However, then you get into problems like nothing should clip into onto the legs (not even the factory pieces) since they make the alt mode too wide as well as the engines being too large and how they shouldn't go beyond where the Autobot insignias start. Ultimately, the grey painted pieces on the forearms have to be there and the forearms can't be any smaller so everything else has to built around that when trying to adjust the aesthetics.
Speaking of the dark grey paint on the forearms, I will never understand why that's on the top of the alt mode and on a tab that has to slide under a notch with no clearance rather on the side (this would be the back of the elbow with the forearm at a 90° angle and it would be facing the sky in a neutral position) where it should be. It's probably because of the hinged dark grey square piece which is likely that colour for strength since nothing else that flexible is molded dark grey.
Excellent work. If I were to buy a 3rd party addon kit, this is how I’d want it to look.
now fix the hands
I never thought about that. That could be the exact reason why they chose a different color for that part.
I also noticed that there's a spot for an Autobot insignia which they seemingly changed their mind about after the molding was done.
I wish I had a 3d printer for the kit...
This is basically the shape I would be going for, a complete continuation of the curvature of the intake parts
