I'm a bit confused as to which fandom this refers too. I don't see much here that doesn't apply to the TF fandom. Certainly the part about the show not aging well is dead on. And as others have said its hilarious that one group of toy collectors think they have any standing to judge another group of toy collectors.
which is the point of my post.. it not just a show for little girl.. it's a show that can be enjoy for everyone. also regardless how the original writer MLP feels about the bronies, its the fact that they listen to the bronies and write a show that pretty much cater to the bronies.. MLPFIM would be a very differ show if brony isnt a thing. hell even the show that is suppose to cater to little girl, equestria girls are swinging to the bronies way as well.
She said nothing about parents being forced to watch it, it's about family entertainment and she acknowledged that adult fans of animation could enjoy it to. So yes the initial demographic is young girls, but that clearly isn't the only demographic. Once again the issue is why can adults enjoy a kids show without be persecuted?
This has got to be one of the weirdest mash-ups I have ever seen but what is even weirder is how much I wouldn't mind having these in my collection, jeez I should have my head examined for even thinking about adding My Little Pony figures in my collection, what has the world come to.
You can say the same thing about many other topics on this board (female transformers, simplified TF's, 3rd party) often those topics devolve into chaos. Yet 3rd party has a whole section and it still gets brought up in countless threads on the official side of things. The problem is the criticism is not about these TF inspired ponies, but about the pony fandom as a whole. If people didn't come in here just to trash on an entire group of people it would be a lot more civil. Then people like you bring up white knights as if there is something wrong with defending something or a group. I personally don't want to sit back while a group gets trashed and bullied.
There's going to be hell to pay if I don't get my Powdered Sugar with exploding Waspinator body action.
I don't think that I am making myself clear. I would not be surprised if the fetishists make up no more than the same percent of weirdos as any of the other fan bases. However, they have a disproportionate amount of a voice in the MLP fandom because the rest of the fan base does not outright reject them like every other group would. Instead of policing themselves, they attack anyone who dares to bring it up. Power Rangers has fans who write crap such as Agony in Pink, but the fandom itself is always among the first to condemn such garbage. Bronies, on the other hand, seem to take such disgust as a personal attack on the entire group.
the bronies actually is the last group that need defending... there is a reason why bronies claim to be un-troll-able.. because no matter what you came up with to insult the bronies.. we already did that to our self before we become a bronies... we are the guy similar to "Autobot Burnout", except we actually change our mind once we watch the show and realize, wow this show is actually pretty decent. this is why the internet hated the bronies.. because we dont care what the internet think about us and carry on with our thing and some even have fun with the troll. yeah, its so wrong for a group of fan of a show that promote good moral value to not hate the black sheep of the group. this is why the bronies are the most unified group on the internet because we practice the spirit of the show. we dont like clopper but we dont hate them. this is how the phase "love and tolerate" become the motto of the brony.. but sometimes we do uses it passive aggressivly like this...
How many children actually know these characters? Do many of you watch the old television shows these homage with your little ones? My kids could make out Optimus and Bumblebee (obviously), and they recognized Burt and Ernie from Sesame Street, though they couldn't remember their names, but they had no idea who the others are. I think these are kind of cool, but these aren't made for children
Where the heck can I get these for my daughter? She loves "Optimus Brian" and loves her ponies. This would net me dad of the week at least.
One problem: I do watch the show. Have been for the past several years, thank you very much. I just stopped calling myself a brony specifically because of the kind of extreme "all or nothing" view the fanbase seems to believe - that there can not be an objective middle ground anymore.
Except there can. And there is. I call myself a brony and I do jack shit with the MLP community. I like the show. I like (Some of) the toys. And I comment on it with people who also like the show. I don't think I'm being extreme in my actions...
yeah so wrong for a fan of the show so be so into the thing that they are a fan of... and again, you are wrong, there is people who watch the show but dont interact with the fandom... we call them closet brony... just like i'm a casual fan of transformer or marvel or dc... middle ground is what you set for yourself.
So you call people closeted by still applying labels to them even if they do not wish to have those labels put on them? Because that's not a middle ground. That's you applying a stereotype to people such that anybody who likes the show is "closeted." Which just proves my point - Brony is not a term that should be blanket-applied to anybody who watches a horse cartoon. There needs to be a fair degree of seperation between people who merely enjoy the show and those who actively enjoy the show. And that's where this problem lies: bullshit like "closeted brony" where people are treated by such misconceptions of stereotype against their will is exactly why TFW constantly explodes every goddamn time ponies gets brought up in the main forums. By pushing the concept that people can not like the show without being labeled a brony - a highly toxic label given it's defined a generation of extreme fans of what still is a toy-shilling commercial of a cartoon aimed at the polar opposite demographics - it's painting a picture to everybody else that anybody who likes the show identifies by being overzealous fans of a girls cartoon. And it also makes it difficult for those "closeted bronies" as you so call them to admit to liking the show - because actual bronies make it such that by doing so, it casts a social stigma people may not want attributed to them. Pony will not be going away for a long while - given that film scheduled for 2017 - but in the meantime, it is worth accepting that there are people who are not comfortable with what pony have come to represent and that the subject should just be left alone, or else this hot-button issue will never fucking end. Nah, I'd actually consider you to be a good example of what I'm talking about, for the most part, since besides me having long since dropped calling myself a brony, you and I largely are on the same page (remember Lyra?) It's just that the more...reactionary...bronies set the common perception of what anybody who likes the show as being, which is not good.
*facepalm* wow for someone that watch MLP you sure dont know anything about their fans. brony.. is a title or label that we put on everyone that love and enjoy the show.. it is a blanket label that simply say i am a fan of the show. it's been that way since the born of the fandom. so what if we call people who enjoy the show but dont interact with the fan or openly talk about the show as closet brony? we dont treat them differly, we dont reject them, we dont resent them, we dont make fun of them. why? because everyone started as a closet brony, even me.. for the fandom, closet brony is just a stage you go through. we dont force people to identified with us because we understand the mentality of someone like you, Autobot Burnout because we all go through the same mentality. and we also have bunch of other title for other brony as well such as creative brony, people who create fanart and music, hispter brony.. people who like MLP from day one... who care what are all differ title or label because we are all the fan of the show call My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. and no, call people closet brony wont make them less likely to join the herd.. it's their own mentality that prevent them... if you think the bronies and stuff that associated with them are the main cause of you not wanting to join the herd. you are not ready to join the herd anyway, but unlike other fandom or group, we dont reject and consider you lesser then us, we are not an elitist group. we accept everyone because as the show promote it, Friendship is Magic which is also why we dont reject or hate the black sheep of the group know as clopper.
