That's a Titan UK comic not an IDW one (which there are none of).

Yeah that's not an IDW comic.

And even this comic goes against what we see in the movie.
So its not cannon material. Lockdown is not a Con and never was in the movie universe. And there were no dead Cons in the Ark.

It does provide some good ideas/explanations that I wish had been utilized in the movie, though. Such as Drift's backstory. That would have been fantastic to have in the movie.

lol @ the whoopsie with Megatron's timeline.

I want IDW comics. They develop the movieverse better than anything else.

No offense but there's literally no indication whether Lockdown ever was an Autobot or Decepticon previously and abandoned his faction, never had one, or so forth. There's no way to tell. No dead Decepticons in the Ark I'll grant you.

Lockdown says he has traveled galaxies and he's been tasked to clean up after the Bots and Cons. He is for sure a TF and "maybe" Cybertronian but its clear he has no loyalties nor ever fought for the Cons.

For anybody who has read it:

According to the wiki, Lockdown was assigned to a mission with Drift, which would point to him being on good terms with Cons (or at least working with them). But, did Lockdown ever give a flying floop about the Deception cause, or was he just being an opportunist like usual? Because just the fact that Lockdown worked with Cons means nothing, as he'll work with anybody if the reward is worth it. TFA Lockdown worked with Cons but wasn't an official Con either.

The strip makes it clear that Lockdown is a proper Decepticon during the flashback ("Lockdown's a lunatic, but he's still loyal to Megatron.") and he seems to care enough about the cause to accuse Drift of being a traitor for not wanting to execute prisoners.

But these comics are not cannon material lol. Nothing in these comics will be considered past, present or future cannon to what we got in the movie.

Or he was disgruntled with his faction, and, you know, gave up on causes. It actually would explain his whole spiel about the cause betraying you, given how cutthroat the Decepticon army is.

And yeah, this is Titan, a UK publisher who did their own Movie comics, unrelated to IDW. I hope someone puts up scans. You know, on some other, less legally concerned website.

There's a difference between 'non-canon' and 'won't be considered by the filmmakers in the future'. All official Transformers fiction is canon is some continuity or other.

There's a thread in Comics Discussion about this.

And it's not canon with the films, but part of a new alternate movie continuity.

I'm not saying lockdown may have not ever at some point worked for the Cons as a Merc, as we see that Ratchet knew who he was. So he had to have crossed paths with some of the Bots before. I just don't think he was meant to ever be a true Con at one point. And with Lockdown hunting the knights for "millennia" as he said, I don't think we really had time to be involved in the Con/Bot war.

And I get that. I understand that. And while whatever movie history UK Titan may be writing will be movie continuity for "their" comics, its not the same movie continuity as what we are getting in the movie. Just as IDW has their movie continuity that is not continuity of the actual movies. You can write anything you want and say its in the same continuity as something else. That doesn't mean it is though.

Agreed. And if we want to go by his opening lines in AOE to support that:
"Autobots, Decepticons..like little children..always fighting..making a mess out of the universe, then I'VE got to clean it up"

It seems he was a very powerful Cybertronian who had no interest in the war, and used his skills working elsewhere throughout the galaxy. Could you imagine if he was loyal to the Decepticon "cause" and how a powerful robot like him could have tipped the scales (based on what we saw from him in AOE)

The movies haven't ever taken anything from the tie-in comics. Nonetheless, I have to say that John Barber did a wonderful job retconning everything.
