VLC had the initial problem, DIVX 2.1 has the sound cutout problem, and MPlayer won't play it at all.

*sigh* I'm trying a last-ditch effort converter, but after that, I may just have to look for a different encode.

Exactly what I was going to say General Hawk. VLC is the way to go for sure.

    *sigh*

All measures failed. I apparently cannot play this episode on my computer. I've never had this problem with an AVI before - I've had some that refused to play at all, but never one that just is screwed up like this one is. Bummer.

As much as I hate to recommend it, does Windows Media Player for Mac play .avi? I know it plays .wmv, but not sure on the .avi. If it does, check out Flip4Mac.

EDIT: Actually, looks like it does support .avi.

See if that helps at all.

It's really odd, I used your torrents during the AEC days without a problem. And no, Flip4Mac won't do Divx (I already have it installed).

Maybe this other torrent will work better...

Master Fwiffo, remember I am using Xvid. Why not download a fresh copy of it?

I just did, today, in an effort to get it to work. The best Xvid could do was randomly cut out on the sound. I dunno, maybe there's something wonky in this particular encode that keeps my comp from handling it. All I know is that I *really* hope next weeks works. :/

    -edit-

Well, the other torrent's file works. At least I can use that...

I'd like to say that I'm glad you're doing this series like you did cybertron. Because of you, I was able to watch the entire cybertron series. Thanks.

And now just like the cybertron series, I'll be seeding to at least 1:1.

And now for the actual file, it wouldn't work with media player, BUT it did work fine with media player classic.

I run the following codec packs:

    KLcodec (6mb version)
    Real alternative
    QT alternative

All of those include media player classic with them. I find that if media player doesn't work (rarely), to just then fire up the classic version and off it goes.

And finally, is it possible to get a slightly higher resolution to cut the jaggies? Or is your feed just like that where a higher bitrate won't help? Because I wouldn't mind if it blew out to 180meg or so if it would help.

And PS, how do you guys put up with that "coming up next" crap that's always appearing? It's too distracting, and I'm glad it's not that excessive here yet.

Well, all I can say is, install the DivX codecs and players from scratch. I had problems a couple of times that only a new clean install could fix. But I don't have a Mac, I use PC and Windows XP SP2, so I uninstalled all the files and programs I was using for watching DivX movies, as well as cleaning the registry base from reg. entries those programs made, before installing them again or installing new versions if they were available at the time. I don't know if you can do this on a Mac.

no. but my point is, the file itself should be fine, and any problems should be his computer instead.
