Hey guys. You may know me as one of those guys who starts a thread and never finishes it. Well, this time is different. Lately I have been really into designing new Transformers Animated characters and after seeing various combiner teams like Devastator by Digilaut and the Protectobots and upcoming Stunticons by MustardwKetchup I decided to take a shot a combiner group. I will be doing the Aerialbots and Superion. Its going to be hard but I think it will turn out good enough. Now, to be honest this is my first time doing any digital artwork on GIMP like this with colouring and shading and all that so cut me some slack if it isnt up to standard. Update - 18/7/10: I have just uploaded a profile picture of Silverbolt. It has everything that I promised, weapons, front and back of robot and of course his bio and foot notes. I have gotten rid of the Head shot picture as I will be updating it when I finish all of the Aerialbot designs. Anyways, here is Silverbolt. Thats him. I tried as best as I could to stick to the original Generation one model and just redraw it in an Animated style, however I did stray away from that design a little bit. He is coloured more like his Universe toy counterpart but as you can tell from the back pack he has a little bit of Generation One Jetfire in him, at least the way the wings fold up in robot mode anyway. So, the next one will be Air Raid, until then, enjoy the glory of Silverbolt. I have also added the vehicle mode of one of the characters as a thumbnail, try and guess who it is, although it may be pretty obvious to some.
There is deffinitely a picture there, so I dont know how youre not seeing them. I'll attach a thumbnail and see if that helps. Other then that I dont know what could be wrong.
Those headshots look interesting, particularly Slingshot (lol army helmet). Can't wait until the full body shots (mainly to see how much they differ from my own interpretation of the Aerialbots).
I am very happy that you like them. The reason that Slingshots head looks like it has an army helmet is because originally I wanted to design the Combaticons and that was going to be Vortexs head. A cool feature I have designed is that the panels at the side of his fold together to form a battle mask similar to the oxygen masks that fighter pilots wear. You will understand more when I show the full designs.
Wow Transformerwars ,Why did you not tell us about this in the Ireland thread,Those are amazing. There is not one i dont like,Silverbolt and Fireflight are My favorites. Cant wait To see them fully finished ,Amazing work.
I thought you would have seen it in my signature. Glad you like them, spread thw word. And I guarantee you wont be disappointed with the final designs. I may upload a quick preview, you know maybe just some rough drafts and stuff and then mabe some silhouettes of their bodies. Anyways, glad you like them and kepp checkin back for more.
I will definitely be checking back, post in the Ireland thread aswell when you put up new stuff. You signature doesnt say that you did them, but i probably should have realised you did them when it says A Work In Progress.
Very nice, you really managed to capture the animated style of design and the character of Silverbolt. Will there be Alt mode ? I would love to see sort of how it Transforms.
Love this, would like to see the alt mode and the rest of the team when you get round to it. You nailed the animated style.
Thanks a lot guys, I am really good that you like the designs. Its nice to hear that Ive nailed the design, it was one of my main goals in designing these guys and Im glad I have achieved that. There will be Alternate Mode pictures, but I may not reveal them until the Superion designs, maybe in the design itself like MustwardwKetchup did with Defensor and the protectobots vehicle modes. Oh yeah, I just noticed that. Woops. Oh well, everybody makes mistakes occasionally. I will try to avoid that though in the next four designs. Im hoping to have Air Raid done by next week and begin work on Fireflight afterwards. Dont worry, I wont keep you guys waiting long. With the weather we are having here in Ireland I should have plenty of time to complete them over the summer.
Very neat! Although one thing for me sticks out, which is the length of his legs. They seem rather short? Have you thought about adding stronger shadows? Right now, the lack of a strong shadow makes Silverbolt look a bit flat. ^^ XD I look forward to seeing your other renditions!
I am liking the design, however I think he looks too short and stubby, especially for being the tallest Areialbot. Otherwise I really like him.
