Prime's just trying to keep his troops in line for the impending doom, but he thinks being the hard-ass leader will get through to them, but he's not too good at it. He's not sure what he's supposed to do.

 

I think bee has history... Remember the Bulkhead and Bee in bootcamp episode with the traitor? I bet Bee won't snitch which landed him and Bulkhead in a heap of trouble. Which is why Prime said he isn't the best judge of character.

I think everyone on the crew has a bad past:

*Prime got busted for Elita-1
*Bumblebee something happened in Boot Camp
*Bulkhead is horribly destructive
*Ratchet is old and useless
*Prowl is an organic Sympathizer

All things that make the High Command get rid of them.

 

Agreed. Very much a misfit crew who happened to stumble upon the most sought-after artifact in (Animated) Cybertronian history.

 

Which is probably why I like them so much.

In past series (except for BW) The Autobots have always been the best of the best, "Their finest heroes". So they rarely get the chance to improve as far as the story is concerned.

Animated is the exact opposite. These are the guys no one wants. And so they have a lot to show. They now have an oppourtunity to become more than what they've been labeled as, but they aren't quite sure how to do so.

It's that sense that they're sub-par in the universe that makes them such great characters.

I know! Am I the only one who feels sorry for him? Especially the bit after the Dinobots when he admitted that maybe he wasn't cut out for the job?
I was more bothered by Sari in this ep (for the first time actually) I mean, really for a kid who seems to have the smarts of 12 year old, she's been lying through her teeth with all those stupid promises of using the key responsibly. I doubt she could have done a better job than Ratchet in keeping the key.

I have this vision of Animated Prime looking over the bright Cybertron horizon as the new leader of the victorious Autobots. I hope it comes true.

Sari was hella annoying for the first few episodes but got much much better. This episode, it was a little step backwards but not much. More importantly I hope she grows up, both mentally as well as physically. No, I just want a sense of time passing, that's all  

 

I'm curious what kind of society the Autobots actually have established on Cybertron. The historyvids Prime views in the first ep, the quarantine on organics, blackarachnia/elita-1 preferring to join the archenemy instead of returning to Cybertron, the way they handled the All-spark. It just doesn't make sense, somehow the Autobots(society) seem out of character.

I get the feeling they have a pretty intolerant society which has an official explanation for just about anything, and behaves like a company similar to the Weylan Yutani Company in the Alien-saga including secret ops. In that respect Prime's crew is considered expandable reminiscent of the Nostromo crew. Maybe the Decepticons are just a freebooting nuisance but definitely not the major threat Cybertronians are led to believe.
The All-spark also seems to favor both sides equally, it effectively restored Megatron to life.

I’d like to see an ep where Megatron tells Prime his side of the story and also explain why he absolutely loathed himself for playing the Autobot for Sumdac.

 

That would be actually quite a good twist, if we get to see Animated Autobot society not being that utopic at all.  

 

personally, i love the new show. i hope Megs wipes the floor with Prime.

I hear people bitching on how BA wants to use the key(even after it nearly killed all organic life) but she never said key did she?

Oh man, I really love this episode. Animated>G1 in all aspects.

Can't wait to watch part 2 on youtube tomorrow.<3
