It more or less was a toy of the ark! Why did we not get this in America in the 80s? I would have loved this as a kid!

There not many videos of it on youtube. (and the second video the guy sold it!)

Why did we not get this here? Anyone have this in their collection?

I bought this as a kid in the local J.J. Newberry's in the '80s, so we definitely got it in the United States.

Well, it looks like one of those crappy vinyl sears exclusive things you could get for your Megos. It probably falls apart on contact with oxygen. Not that child me would care!

Was it released here? Never saw it in stores and many sites list it as a "uk release only".

Some of the star wars sets were the same way. Still would have loved it as a kid.

Yeah, those were the days. When you could get a steal of a deal by bugging your parents when they went there.

It looks like another "slap the new property logo on an old product". Not that I wouldn't have loved it as a kid. Sometime I'm going to have find and go through the old 80's Sears catalogs to see what was offered in America.

Yes, it was released in the States. Believe me, if I found it in rural Pennsylvania, it was released everywhere.

Check the sold listings - the prices there (for both new and used) are a bit more realistic.

It reminds me of the uk only death star set. Retroblasting reviews it here.

It WAS released in the US. I had it as a kid, but the cardboard was too flimsy and prone to tearing. It looked pretty neat, though.

That's cool and all but with the technology we have today anyone could make that at home or at the photo department in Sam's club.

Heck, nowadays, you could simply recreate one using a 3d printer. Much more durable than cardboard.

True, but not every one has a 3-D, and yeah, not everyone has a printer, but I think it's safe to say every one can get to a printer, either at a friends house, work or one of the printers that you can pay to use at Sam's, Walgreen's or places like that.

I have this in my collection and it's VERY big compared to anything else. It is however just cardboard. I once started to copy the measurements in illustrator to have one lasercut. I had forgotten about the project and I do have a lasercutter myself now! I should look up my files and the set to see if I can at least make a new one in wood/ acryllic. Or a miniature one in paper ;p. I don't have a scanner big enough to scan the original parts though...

    Ebay:
According to this unofficial TF price guide I had back in like 2000-2001ish, this deffo did come out in America, but it was probably stupid rare like a lot of the more ancillary products like that train set.
