Yeah, super surprised when I found this.

This seems to be the official website, but it’s still hidden: https://hakabanogarou.jp/transformers40th

Haha yeah first thing I did was click on the link too. Looks like that’s the company responsible for organizing the event. They seem to do all sorts of pop-up stores and events.

Does 2 days mean the 9th or 10th? Could this be one of the ways MPG Ginrai is revealed? He's scheduled for 4/10

40th anniversary announcements to date has been a little underwhelming. It's 40th anniversary of G1 no less. Sure, we have Missing Link. Then there's Hasbro G1 reissues of reissues of the likes of Soundwave, Blaster, Seekers, Insecticons.

Maybe, perhaps maybe this Japan Expo will announce G1 reissues of Dinobots, Autobot cars Mirage, Sunstreaker, Wheeljack.

I'm thinking they just want to pace themselves and spread things out. I actually like that idea vs. blowing the load early on. The rollout of Transformers stuff in 1984 didn't happen all at once either. I remember seeing some toys in Spring 1984, and I believe the comic started around that time as well. The cartoon didn't come about until September. I know things were introduced at different times in places outside of the U.S., though.

I would love to be able to go into some kind of Transformers pop-up store/exhibition.

Do you recall when the toys, comic and cartoon first showed up in Australia? I don't think the toyline actually started in Japan until 1985, interestingly enough!

Yeah TT is early with the celebration. Will probably be stretched over a 1.5~2 year period. Real 40th anniversary here isn’t until 2025.

    Extremely unlikely.

There's zero leaks for Missing Link so far so I wouldn't bet on it.

So far April 10th is only the date when MP/MPG Ginrai pre-orders open.

Everything else we as a community speculate / assume. Takara themselves said "April" for news on new products, never a specific date.

Sadly no. Family was way too poor to think about toys. Roof over our heads & meals was a struggle. I watched G1 cartoon on a black & white tv donated from our neighbor. What a difference 40 years makes... great job, disposable income. I still love getting a bargain though.

Takara said they will reveal detailed information in 4月上旬, which is from April 1st to April 10th.

And yes, since there's no leak for Missing Link yet, what they'll reveal for the Missing Link line on April 10th is probably not a full product reveal like MP Ginrai. Maybe it's something like the Karakuri Statue (product photos but no release date or price), or some Takaratomy Mall exclusive (e.g. C-01 repaint). Let's wait and see.

Last year was the 40th anniversary for Zoids and Takara held a similar exhibition in Osaka and other cities: 雑記 40周年記念ZOIDS展(大阪会場)へ行ってきました

    20230604112735a7b.jpg

It seems that the focus is on showing the history of the franchise (toy and animation), rather than upcoming new figures. The Transformers exhibition will probably be the same.

Yeah that’s what I assumed. Traveling Transformers museum vibe. In fact, I think they did something like that for the 35th as well. I remember something like that coming to Osaka a few years ago but I wasn’t able to make time to go then.

Definitely not expecting any new reveals or anything.

I reckon we won’t see new figures on display until Tokyo Toy Show, assuming TT are attending this year.

Lucky you, I don't expect this to come to Kyoto, not sure if it's worth a trip to Osaka or not.

By the way, Tokyo Toy Show is normally held in June or July, but this year it's end of August. That's a loooong wait~

Yeah I reckon this’ll be it for Kansai. If you’ve got the time, I’m sure it’ll make a fun day trip!

Dang, didn’t realize TTS is so late this year. That’s nuts! Was hoping we’d get to see a production sample of MP Rhinox before release, but I guess we may have to wait for actual in-hand pictures to see what the final figure actually looks like.
