Something about the action just isn't very dynamic.

"We just want to talk" She says right before she tackles him to the ground from the air at high velocity.

Also, given that this is Windblade who fires on aliens without provocation, I'm not sure Cyclonus isn't justified in hoofing it soon as he saw her coming over the hill.

I wonder what Cyclonus' relationship with Galvatron will be in this run.

I don't think it's the art style that's at fault (it's good). It might have been better if there'd been a panel that showed Cyclonus transforming and taking off and a panel of them both transforming back into robot mode before the panel of them hitting the ground.

Maybe I'm being overly picky but it feels like there's some panels missing there and before. When Windblade says "Is that someone up ahead?", there isn't a panel showing someone up ahead and when Chromia identifies it as Cyclonus, we don't see Cyclonus noticing them and starting to run.

All of the above may be what makes the sequence less dynamic.

Also, the comic is a visual medium but for some reason, we have a character telling us that there's another character in front of them and another character identifying the character to us, despite the fact that those two things are literally some of the easiest things to show and could have been shown at the same time in one panel. That's just... why?

EDIT: Upon further contemplation, the scene wouldn't work any better better in a non-visual medium because both of them see Cyclonus so regardless of whose perspective the narration is influenced by, the audience would receive some kind of description of Windblade and Chromia spotting Cyclonus and him making a run for it.

The only way I could see this working would be if the narration followed Windblade's perspective and instead of it being her who spots Cyclonus from a distance, it's Chromia who does and Windblade doesn't see him until Chromia tells her to give chase.

Yeah, I think it's the tell, don't show that makes the scene less dynamic. The sequence doesn't flow properly and so it's denied much of its intended momentum.

It’s not. Read a random issue of MTMTE and you will enjoy that more so than any issue of the new continuity so far.

He said action. Not sad robots sitting around talking about their feelings. If you want that than yes, by all means go read an issue if MTMTE

You know the more I see of this, the more I wish they would have made a more radical departure from the norm with this new series.

Because all I can think is, "oh right, these aren't the same characters. I keep forgetting"
    sigh

Yes. It's amazing how poorly framed that sequence was. This is absolutely embarrassing against the old Marvel G1 comic.

This book is nothing if not an example of "tell, don't show!" at every opportunity.

And this is the problem. Too much (uninteresting) talking and not enough progression.

Now I know what started the war... they were bored and needed excitement.

This feels like a fan fiction that\'s trying to be epic.

Has anyone made a video comparing the start of both IDW iterations yet?
Seems like something that\'ll happen eventually.
This series is kinda slow and stiff, the expressionless art isn\'t helping.
