Can't say I agree - at the very least they pulled the camera back so we could see everything happening. Though I do understand where you are coming from.

I don't really get the dislike in the fight scenes here. In the money shot we see Optimus jump off Grimlock, throw his broadsword through a drone's chest while midair, make a sliding land as sparks fly beneath his feet, and in one motion grabs the blade like a knife, uses it to slice another drone in half, while simultaneously preparing to shoot another incoming drone. And that doesn't even describe what's going on with Grimlock in the background.

In comparison, what is commonly seen as Optimus's most epic moment in Prime is when he flies in, lands, and uppercuts Megatron in slow-motion before punching him across the room as everyone else watches like idiots.

I'm mostly amazed how still, calm the camera is for the action scenes as opposed to the first movie and ROTF style of it being jerked around like it was carried by a braindead hyperactive monkey on his 50th RedBull while pushing the zoom-in zoom-out until it breaks.

Between the design aestetic that is for the first time not shit (not good mind you, just not shit) and a normal camera I might actually enjoy the action scenes in this thing.

Everything else will probably be shit because it's Bayformers but at least the action won't be migraine inducing anymore....

I have a question that's bothering me that I haven't seen anyone ask yet. Why is Optimus driving out to the middle of the desert? He is clearly alone. Is he driving out there to meet someone? Maybe it's the rendezvous point for all the surviving autobots? And I may be wrong about this next part (feel free to correct me), but in the quick glimpse we got from the Samsung UHD TV footage, wasn't the mysterious helicopter in the desert? I'd really like to hear if anyone has an ideas/theories about the desert scene.

Well, it certainly looks promising. But then we can't judge a film by just a trailer, can we?
Look at the rock formation in the background. He's going to pay the TFP Autobots a visit in their secret silo base (before it gets destroyed). :)

Humans discovering the process of creating a Transformer, mass producing Transformers, humans killing Autobots, a Transformer bounty hunter, Dinobots... feels like a fresh new story.

Did you see the same Pacific Rim I did? My biggest complaint about the camera angles is that they were so close, and for robots that size, that made it even worse. TF camera angles have by and large been far more pulled back than those of PR.

Fair enough. But to me it feels like another "Malibu Stacey... With A New Hat!" situation.
