As an aside I find this book perfectly boring on its own merits, not compared to anything previous. There’s “slow burn” and then there’s “I’m going to rub two sticks for the next 12 issues”
The greatest crime of this issue would have to be not rendering Quake in all his toy accurate bisho glory.
Of all the original characters of the previous run to bring back... Anyways, I think I got the right idea about this Quake guy.
Happy that an obscure character like Quake is getting the spotlight here but it's weird to me that they keep bringing back characters from the old continuity so early on. Shouldn't they be trying to give this series it's own identity instead of reminding us of the last one? I'm still enjoying it tho and I'm excited for this issue.
Darn it, IDW! You have only have two psychiatrist characters to choose from, and you went and picked the wrong one. I wanted the other oooooooone >.< For real though, I'm sort of glad to see Froid here. It gives me hope for seeing the other original IDW characters! Was honestly not expecting to see him.
Hmm, out of all the mtmte OCs they could've brought back, I'm fine with this. Froid was the least annoying of them.
So within the space of two pages we've been given the "return" of Froid. The idea that there was a war in the past and that Quake is a violent, kill-crazy veteran of that war who can't adjust to peace. Talk about making up for lost time.
Wow, that change in artwork is so distracting. IDW is going through some tough times, leadership changes, etc. But this is no way to get back on track. I don\'t care how good the story is, if I can\'t look at the page because of the eyesore it creates then I don\'t want to read it.
Just saying, Roberts introduced to many fucking OCs. It distracts from... you know, the Transformers we want to see? And who is Froid?
Froid and Quake make me happy. Glad to see some actual back story finally appearing and an increase in story scale. Also, so there was a war? Haven't they been saying that Brainstorms death was the first? Oh, and I am glad that they are using toy models when possible. If I eventually decide I love this comic, its easier to collect existing toys than wait for companies to make figures of the characters (still waiting on the MTMTE cast )
Wait, is that Cyclonus fighting alongside Quake in those flashback scenes? Neat! Could he be the "particular prisoner" Orion mentioned?
Oh hi Froid... where is... uhm... what was his name again? Rong? Ring?..... *Jokes aside, you know who I am talking about!!
Well IDW sure could not resist long to bring their OCs back again. Not surprising given who the editor is. And apparently murder is OK as long as it is not done on cybertronians? Or I assume these Threefold Spark people were some other cybernetic race? Agreed. It's not a good sign, either, that he is already back. He was the most cliche "evil scientist doing evil things for the sake of why not" ever. I mean dammit, there HAS to be a balance between Brad Mick's "let's only introduce G1 characters by the year like how they appeared since 1984" method and Roberts' "I want to cram this comic full with as many of my own fan-made characters as I can since now I get to make them canon!"... There should be a middle ground. Like, for example, using all the hundreds of Transformers characters who do not yet have any characterization in comics instead of inventing new ones? The Bulletbikes, the Armordillos, the Night Vipers, the (Energon) Slugslingers and Sharkticons... you catch my drift.
