    It's not bad. The ideas and characters are solid, but it 15 minute format hobbles it a bit. Like I mentioned, it borrows from IDW. The colony worlds are a thing. Chromia and windblade are from caminus . Megatron is at least nominally a political activist (for what I'm not sure - haven't caught up yet). Maccadams is clearly a bar, and therez refernces to the original primes, deadlock/drift, etc.There's a lot to like and it does a halfway decent job straddling being a kids show and a fan show. It's kinda IDW Lite.

    Does it matter? :D

    Not my best analogy, but they can't all be winners. So mea culpa.

    The point is that there's usually a shred of something of value in anything no matter how horrid. Even the worst person in the universe is a good "bad example". Wrapping it back to the actual topic at hand, even if this comic turns out to be a smoldering pile of elephant turds, it might add something of value as a whole to the franchise. After all, the Aligned continuity as a whole was an abject disaster, but I loves me some TFP and the 13 primes idea was pretty neat.

    This looks like it could be interesting. I hope they take inspiration from IDW's high points, like Wreckers and the Furman era.

    I dunno if it's high points or not, but:

    * It's clearly referencing titans as starships, reminiscent of IDW1;
    * "Ancient Transformers merge into its very fabric", and skuling creatures below the surface suggests some influence from Marvel G1 (Primus, Spanner, Boltax);
    * "[T]hriving hub for inter-stellar commerce" suggest the same galaxy spanning scale as IDW1.
    * Windblade and Bumblebee hanging out is suggestive of their current status in Cyberverse - the dynamic has shown to be solid in that show.
    * Escorting a "newly forged" Transformer seems to refer to the IDW1 concept of forging as a means of Transformers reproduction.

    In short, it sounds reminiscent of what they're doing with Cyberverse. Not a bad starting point for all intents and purposes.

    There's actually a lot of promising stuff here, in my opinion. I like the idea of exploring more of Cybertron's relationship with the wider galaxy at large pre-war. Chromia and Prowl as cops together sounds like it could be a fun dynamic. I like the Big Brother feel of Titans up in the skies, looking down on all. (I'm immediately thinking of the imposing blimps in the theme song for Batman: The Animated Series.) If they explore different types of Transformers, different subspecies for example, (something like the Insecticons in Fall of Cybertron or the Mutants in the Marvel comics) that could go to some neat places. This isn't in the solicits but looking at different gangs or criminal organizations pre-war could be fun.

    I still think a pre-war setting is drawing the risk of immediate comparisons to IDW's pre-war stuff, but I'll admit it's an exceptionally rich setting if they choose to explore it, and are in no rush to start the war and let the story take its time. In general, I'm cautiously optimistic.

    Was obsessed with Michael Jackson as a kid so my knee jerk reaction was to be serious but it was definitely a joke before I'd started writing that post. The real answer is it is the internet so there is a good chance anything that would be a joke in person is serious, but maybe you were picking up on that little bit of backstory. :p

    Anyway the setting sounds good and the Chromia/Prowl cop pairing sounds cool so still not a definite thing to collect but more promising stuff in the solicits than the announcement.

    I also really like the pairing between Chromia and Prowl. Chromia was the hardass of her group back during the G1 cartoon. I like that she's going to be a hardass cop in IDW2.

    Can't wait for the reboot, "Sprint Wars"! :D

    The solicits have my interest. The description of Cybertron is very interesting and I hope the art and writing follow through. I don't believe the "first murder to have occurred on Cybertron in living memory" part, but I assume that's going to be explained. #2 reminds me of the OP annual about Bee getting framed for the delivery bomb.

    I immediately thought of the BTAS blimps as well! Just imagine a bunch of criminals running and all of a sudden the lights of an Omega Sentinel beam down on them. I really hope the "pre-war" stories last a long time. It's risky since alot of the personalities and motivations of certain characters would happen without the war backdrop, but the transition towards "The Great War" could feel so historic if we watch these characters after 3 or 4 years of development choose factions and light the galaxy on fire.

    I really like the sound of this so far. Especially since it's basically the direct opposite of the previous take on pre-war Cybertron. In IDW-1, it was hyper isolationist and extremely totalitarian, doing little to earn any favors among the galactic community (though lets be honest, was the Galactic Council really any better? A shame there wasn't expansion on them). In IDW-2, we're being told that it's a utopian machine world with good relations with the rest of the galaxy and a free society, though it isn't without (dark) secrets.

    ... I just read the bit about organics being on cybertron. That fixes any and all issues with cybertronians being gendered. There is a solid reason for it now. Thank Jeebus.

    One thing that makes me feel excited for this new series is that I’ll be on board with everyone else now, rather than having to rush over things like I did with IDW - 1, to make sure I was up to date with all of the events that happened.

    I also like it’s bi-monthly schedule, as it’ll mean we’ll get to read about the story more often. I just hope the art quality is consistent, because that seems to take the biggest hit when doing a series with a schedule like this, rather than monthly.

    I wonder if like Cyberverse, they’ll feature a lot of fan favourite characters in a cameo appearance, and then utilise them down the line...

    Also, Issue #1 ships on 13th March 2019, and Issue #2 ships on 27th March 2019:
    TRANSFORMERS #1 CVR A RODRIGUEZ (JAN190714)
    TRANSFORMERS #2 CVR A DANIEL (JAN190719)

    Anyone else hope this stays one ongoing title for a while? As someone who came on late it was a real PITA to track the entire story with all the different series, names changed, mini series, one offs etc

    I’d love to see the Renegades from Go-Bots cast as a street gang or other small-time operation in this. Call them Renegades. Get Cy-kill, Crasher, & Copter in there as the leaders of the gang. Have Prowl & Chromia bust them. Could be fun.

    It's interesting that it's taking such an opposite tack to Roberts' pre-war approach. Could be interesting if functionism is the dark underbelly of a society that promotes freedom of choice, rather than a dominant philosophy.

    I've made my peace with this. I enjoyed Prime, enjoyed RID2015, and will enjoy another continuity as much as possible. It's *sigh* okay if everything won't be as good as MTMTE.
