While we all wait for the pandemic to be controlled, and for the comic industry to resume production, there's some good news regarding this series. Brian Ruckley shared a photo it appears to imply that the scripts for issue #20 - #23 are complete: Brian Ruckley on Twitter
On the same level that i liked IDW1, no. I'm a Furman, Roche and Roberts fan when it comes to IDW1. There were bad and dumb issues from IDW1 of course, even by those writers but it just appealed to me so much more in general. I didn't like the Optimus Prime series but I did like IDW Robots in Disguise before it. IDW2 is just archetypes doing things rather than actual characters in an actual story. Its just failing to grasp me because I've seen it all done before so much better. I am looking forward to '84 as thats going to appeal to me more.
Interesting, #20 had been on the solicits for release two weeks ago. Obviously didn't see release. Wonder what IDW's plan will be. Sell direct on their site?
You mean quite a lot of standing around talking. Catgut biting Bumblebee is the only action in this issue.
Bumping a month old thread just to complain about a post even older then that. And you couldn't even complain right. He said "subplots", not "action".
I think it does an above average job of being that, but imo, you're right - the TF characters are inserted almost randomly into pre-existing roles from the political/police thriller genre. People used to say that MTMTE wasn't a proper Transformers comic because the characters didn't transform and fight often enough - but MTMTE was one of the most quintessentially Transformers-y things ever produced in terms of following the spirit of the original tech specs, which described a bunch of oddballs with strange weapons and powers. The new series is the opposite in this regard - can you imagine the Transformers Universe book accompanying it? Sideswipe: "A tough, no-nonsense cop who often gets in over his head." Springer: "A tough, no-nonsense cop who sometimes gets in over his head." Windblade: "... And so on.
It's not out yet, but you come into every single thread for every issue just to shit on it. Why do you even read the comics if you don't like them?
Brian Ruckley on Twitter Brain Ruckley is teasing us, in regards to "Rise of the Decepticons": Now that we're hopefully back on a schedule with TF, figure if we had to have a little break, just before 20 wasn't the worst place to do it. 20 thru 23 do kind of flow as a cause and effect chain, and the whole 20-25 block is ... 1/3 ... pretty much one big shaking up of everything, wrapping up some story threads, cutting some, maybe starting some new ones. So what to expect between here and 25? Well ... Leviathan, skitters, Swindle, Quake, what's going on on the moon ... 2/3 ... Bumper having problems, a lot of shooting, Grotusque and Groove and Beachcomber and lots more debuts, and most importantly, the origin and name of Prowl's pet revealed! (But bear in mind Prowl's not very imaginative when it comes to naming pets ...)
I read the comics just because they are Transformers then I call out the quality of the comic, whether I find it good or bad. That's what a review is. If I think nineteen issues in a row are bad, then I'll post my comment my thoughts in each of the discussion threads. If #20 is good, then I'm going to call it good. The onus is on Ruckley to write good comics. Not me to call bad comics good.
A lot of characters being thrown in it seems, even when we’ve just been introduced to a new guard in the form of Firestar, Smokescreen, Sureshot and Blades
Just playing catch-up and got to this issue. Gotta say - Sureshot!! Yay! That's pretty much it. Super pumped to see one of my favourite bots appearing anywhere. Make him cool and don't kill him please. Now get him a toy Hasbro. This was probably the strongest issue in a long while.
