@PrimeVsPrime thanks for the review! Was thinking of putting the head from this Bumblebee onto the DOTM Bumblebee since that figure's head lacked an Autobot symbol. Are the yellow plastics the same or very close between this 15th Anniversary Bumblebee and DOTM Bumblebee?

 

Really sucks that ironhide doesnt have a painted eye.

 

Cool! Wonder if they’d ever do sets for the other movies.

ROTF would have Optimus, Jetfire, Bumblebee, Sideswipe, Jolt, and Arcee. If they wanna spice it up they could put Breakaway in there.

DOTM would have Optimus, Bee, green Ratchet, Heavy Iron Ironhide, Que, Dino, presumably the Wreckers.

AOE would be the five, and then TLK would be the five plus Hot Rod and Cogman.

why are the paint apps worst for a multipack reissue?

 

Jazz is a massive improvement over the original solely due to a minor color change. The Gunmetal-ish silver works a lot better than the originals shade of Light Silver.



Not to mention the yellowish tint, which kinda gives off the impression of the evening Sunlight of Mission City washing over him.

Optimus looks fine, black clear plastic for the windows is awesome, though the unpainted legs are bit of a let down
Bumblebee is just incredibly bland, but the head is the best looking Bayverse sculpt we've seen for a Bee figure yet.
Ironhide looks amazing, even better than the original imo. The unpainted eye looks better imo.
Ratchet's paint is much more accurate to the film, additional paint apps are also great.
Jazz is the highlight of this set imo, the new paint deco looks fantastic.

 

Very debatable.

While Optimus and Bumblebee obviously are missing some key paint apps, Jazz and Ratchet are vast improvements in terms of accuracy. (I can forgive the back doors in favor of everything else)

Ironhide is the middle ground. I personally think it's better as the the grey breaks up the details in a way that actually brings out the sculpt work. Even the missing eye doesn't bother me, as the original has a sloppy application and it's supposed to be damaged in the movie anyways.

 

Wow, the paint is so much worse on all of them.

 

Honestly I still think they look fine.

For ROTF I see it being either a pack of Starscream, Megatron, Grindor and Optimus or maybe Fallen, Megatron, Jetfire and Optimus.

 

Poor bumblebee looks terrible….

 

Bumblebee I think suffered the most but is okay, Ratchet looks fine/good, Ironhide looks good, Prime still looks good to me, Jazz looks the best.

 

I was thinking along the lines of these being Autobot sets, and then you could do Decepticon sets.

2007 would have Megs, Starscream, Blackout, Barricade, Brawl, and Scorponok and Frenzy (to sweeten the deal).

ROTF would have Megs, Starscream, The Fallen, Grindor, Ravage, Long Haul, and Sideways.

DOTM would have Megs, Soundwave, Shockwave, Hatchet, Crowbar, and Crankcase.

AOE would have Galvatron, Lockdown, Stinger, KSI Boss, Junkheap.

TLK would have Megs, Barricade, a more accurate Nitro Zeus, Onslaught, Dreadbot and Mohawk.

 

Gonna get this and combine the ones I have to make superior paint apps across the board.

 

The paint is mostly fine other than bumblebee, ratchet and jazz look better, optimus and ironhide look like they probably had the same paint budget as the original release just done in different colors or applied in different areas.

 

Jazz is the winner by far. Definitely an improvement.

That optimus mold is never going to look good in truck mode. Those smoke stacks are vile. And the grey fuel tanks are still unpainted. For a truck that was shiny af in the movie, the toy's colours are very dull.

As for bumblebee, christ. The darker windscreen is correct, but the wheels are grey with painted tyres (incomprehensible decision) which makes them LESS accurate, because now the wheels are a dull gray instead of a metallic silver like ss49... which is how the real car looked.

Ratchet looks fine. The mold is still the dotm deluxe except worse, but that's besides the point. Good enough job.

Ironhide looks better. People are legitimately going to spend $140 just to get him and thats sad. (Unless they're going to sell the other four. In which case more power to them!)

So, we have a $140 5-pack of 2 Voyagers and 3 deluxes, and only 3 of them are acceptable improvements upon the original release. That's... decent, by hasbro standards. The bar isn't particularly high.

 

Is it just the lighting in the images, or did they use a much brighter yellow plastic for Bumblebee?

 

sucks that i am going to skip this set. with import fees this thing costs up to 270 euros with the shipping. at that i might aswell buy other things and wait for a dotm ironhide, aoe ratchet and perhaps hope for another og trilogy prime repack. did it have to be an expensive amazon exclusive hasbro?

 

Why can't we just get a properly painted Optimus
