Is that....Lafuente on art these pages? I still haven't picked up an issue, is it worth it as one long read?
I think it's Malkova. Based on the two issues I've read and reviews of the others, I think it'd work well as one long read. Ruckley is a novelist by trade, after all.
It looks like we’re finally getting a flashback to Megatron’s history? I’m interested to know what made him this way. And glad that line from issue one is going to be explained.
I stopped reading months ago. Nice to see nothing is happening still, but the artist at least got replaced by someone better. But seeing ugly orange Jhiaxus... whyyyyy. Use the G2 design please.
When Hasbro makes a G2 colors Jhiaxus toy, IDW will use that design. I think they don’t have to use the toy design but choose to just because he has a toy. And frankly, I’d rather they put toys into comics than make up new characters who don’t have toys. Transformers is a toyline first and foremost after all.
Looks great! The art is looks really solid and loving the political angle of the story. I agree, it’s Nice to have a mythology for WFC and Prime trilogy figures.
I am loving this comic, and also love the little details they are putting like the metal scratching below Megatrons hand
Oh boy. Another Megatron who has no fear of substance abuse. When was the last time we got that? TFP? The Decepticons are in for one hell of a BAD time if he's already prepared to go unhinged as a senator.
I will say that there should have been a G2 Jhiaxus by now. Whether he’s a remold of a Starscream toy or his own completely new toy. Jhiaxus’ only existing toys have been orange; the second one copying the first one. If Impactor and Straxus can get their own toys, so too should Jhiaxus. However, here he is distinctly not G2 Jhiaxus. And neither was IDW1 Jhiaxus. This Jhiaxus is just another Decepticon scientist type character. IDW1 Jhiaxus has G2 Jhiaxus’ colors but was redesigned to look like a lumbering henchman.
I don't know. G1 was probably an alchoholic but most continuities from that point on didn't really feature a Megs who liked getting wasted on energon until TFP (at least to my knowledge), then in IDW and everything after he isn't seen ever getting drunk or overdosing on energon...Until now.
Isn't everyone in this continuity deliberately underfueled to save the planet's energy? Maybe he's just gearing up for war.
Some good points. I tend to look at it not so much as a literal thing more of a personality to “do what it takes” and then eventually getting drunk on it. I am not as familiar with the AEC era so I can’t comment on that, but Megatron seems to often make devil’s bargains (sometimes literally). Yes, it’s a highly regulated society with limitations on personal freedoms, in regards to resource allocation. In other words you get x amount of energy because A. That’s what you need to survive and we only have so much B. You are a walking war machine to most other species at full power.
