Preview: Transformers #11 | Graphic Policy
Well, the artwork is getting better at least. They’re just standing around talking though. I’m still feeling a sense of disconnect with the characters and story though.
Good god, is this comic still going at a slug\'s pace?
I wish it was going that fast...
Robots Standing Around Part 11!
At least an actual slug makes progress over time. This just doesn’t.
11 issues and Ruckley has shown that he doesn’t understand Transformers, he doesn’t understand what readers want, he’s incapable of writing compelling characters and storylines, and pacing is completely none-existent. The only thing he’s working hard at is to ensure the story is being dragged out as long as possible without actually saying anything or going anywhere.
A summary of each issue can make the comics sound interesting but to actually read them is just a tedious chore. There is just nothing of worth in here. And the events that should have worth like character deaths just have no impact whatsoever.
I keep reading because I’m a Transformers fan but I am not a fan of this comic. They cancelled Optimus Prime and Lost Light for this; admittedly both those comics have flaws of their own but both were greatly more satisfying than this. They wanted to bring in new readers, but they’re instead turning away old readers and new readers alike.
We are long past the acceptable point of a new continuity having a slow start. 11 issues into IDW1 and we had Infiltration and Stormbringer. There should no longer be pages of characters just standing around talking. At least have chosen a different page to have shown as the preview.
Just wait to see how slow it will seem once it’s monthly! Maybe the second book will have a bit more pace to it.
"What're they doing?"
"I said what're they doing now?"
"God damn, I'm getting so sick of answering that question!"
"Hey you bought the issue, I ain't buying that shit. Don't bitch at me because I'm not going to just sit up here and play with my figures all day."
"Okay okay, look. They're just standing there and talking. That's all they're doing. That's all they ever do, just stand there and talk. That's what they're doing the first issue, that's what they're doing the last issue. So five issues from now, if you ask me "What're they doing?" my answer's gonna be "They're still just talking, and they're still just standing there!"
".... what are they talking about?"
"You know what? go to TFWiki."
11 issues in and I still don’t have much good to say, unfortunately. It’s a painfully slow book and to be honest I feel dirty saying such negative things because I want to be a supportive fan. It’s slow without any payoff in sight.
It’s 2 stars (out of 5) at best.
I’m not a fan of the art, the plot, the pace, and the price. I’ll get the RI cover. But that’s it.
You say all that, but then you say:
Honestly all you guys are doing anymore is just sending IDW mixed signals.
Oh my... Starscream looks so strange in that panel... stop drawing them like that...
Anyone remember the days when tales like Wrath of Guardian/Grimlock could knock out a killer narrative with a gut-pinch ending in only two issues? 30 years later and the comic has degenerated into this unimaginative nonsense. Bad comedy indeed.
They want James Roberts to come back and continue LL. Even though it was clear he couldn't keep up promises.
I was about to highlight the lack of drawn 5mm ports from the toys.
But then, there they are on Sentinel's knees.
He doesn't have to continue Lost Light, but at least he has an appreciation for the source material and a knack for witty dialogue that was entertaining even when the scene in question was just two characters standing in a room talking but never going anywhere. The only time this series got a laugh out of me was Orion and Ironhide's exchange all the way back in the first issue.. "That went.. well..." "Like Prowl, under a pylon..."
It's just so long and drawn out to the point they want fans to abandon this book.
"THEY DID WHAT?"
Nothing... for eleven issues.. except kill a new character nobody was attached to since he was just an audience proxy...
I do not want such a thing. Do not mistake me for a Roberts fan. I just want a Transformers comic that I can be interested in. When my Google Play credit runs out I will not continue unless it dramatically improves.
I believe next issue, we will see them meditating and more exciting speeches of nothing!!
I pity the writer, he must had a horrible boring childhood. Imagine playing GIJOE and transformers with him....
No, George, Optimus doesn't want to sit and talk about his feelings !! NOO!! Cobra Commander doesn't want to sit at the table and talk about peace and surrending and becoming a monk !
I remember biting my nails wondering what the DJD or Overlord was about to do next...Those were good days, those were great books.
This is an absolute shit storm! Honestly the worst comic book I've ever seen....ZZZzzzzzzzz
Separate names with a comma.
