Ive been following this countdown through a thread at Box Office Mojo and its finally been completed. This site has been compiling a list of the top 100 selling DVDs ever through all available internet data, and Transformers is ranked as the 6th best selling DVD ever in America

UKMIX - Forums - Chart Analysis - The DVD Sales thread (Sales Database 1997 - Present)

I had no idea it sold so much :0

Yeah, I love reading things like this. So many people love to go on and on about how "terrible" the first movie was. And yet, $300+ million domestic, $700+ worldwide, and the 6th best selling DVD ever.

One hell of an achievement in a relatively short space of time compared to how long some of those have been around - The Dark Knight is the only 'newer' DVD to rank higher.

Me too. In fact, one kid in my class gets made fun of because he didn't like the movie.

Very nice achievement. I would've thought it ranked higher with all the variant and gimmick editions that were made.

Hey, hey hey, now. I'm a geewunner and I LOVED the movie!!!! When I was 10 and the '86 movie came out, I always wondered if they would ever make a "real" Transformers movie and they did. Open-mindedness is a good thing! :thumbs2:

No, you're just a G1-fan not a geewunner. Don't lower yourself with that horrible misused term of fandom.

Well, that's very pleasing news. The franchise is still going strong. Obviously it's gained a lot of fans, at least of the film, and hopefully they'll help make the sequel a success.

It wasn't perfect, but it was an overall fun, action-filled movie.

The more they're assured of an audience, the more Hasbro can push the franchise and try to gain more attention and widespread appeal. Which is all to the good for us, neh?

hmmm lovely, hope this'll give more incentive to hasbro/paramount to pump more funds into the franchise.
