    Either way. I need a Furman/Guido book. Or a Furman/Milne. I don’t care what series it is. G1. BW.

I definitely agree that his run in the 90s looked better and more detailed. All the dents and stains and battle damage on the characters, and extremely detailed backgrounds were my jam.

I don't know if he was intentionally drawing Regeneration One with less detail to make it retro, but it would explain some choices. Is he quoted anywhere saying that or has it just been speculation? Maybe he was rushing to finish it due to time constraints, or maybe he was adapting to the modern ink and coloring techniques that they do with a computer these days?

Either way, I still enjoyed Regeneration One. I was REALLY disappointed when they announced Wildman leaving, but I was blown away by Guido's art, and was very happy to see a few Geoff Senior pages.

Whenever this issue 0 gets released, I think I need to read the whole UK Marvel run and G2/Regeneration One again.

Just speculation. But it’s clear that his old work is better than his work on Regeneration One whatever the cause.

Furman was also better in the past than he was on Regeneration One as well. The only good thing about Regeneration One was Guido Guidi’s art. That’s why I love seeing the new ‘84 book. It looks the way that Regeneration One should have looked.

Hey... Micromasters didn’t exist in the continuity until the late 80s. Are they also going to put in Jetfire, the Constructicons and other characters created on Earth?

Erector and Crumble? Odd, I thought Micromasters were an Energon-saving technique invented far later.

I’m guessing no as the Micromasters were not also created on Earth.

Yeah, those shown weren’t in the original comic but the concept was new at the time. Perhaps the Micromaster technology had existed in the past of the storyline but became forgotten until it was revived in the late 1980s.

Maybe they are still full size here. Before the “micro” process.

They’re known characters, they’re not generics. I would expect better from 1984 to throw in random characters just as crowd filler.

To this one-shot's credit, the artwork is gorgeous as Guido Guidi's style tends to be, and having Punch as the narrator is a nice change of pace. Lord knows I'm sick and tired of G1 being the be-all end-all, but this looks like it'll be genuinely great-- leagues better than whatever the hell RG1 wound up being at any rate.

I know! I’ve endured ten issues of IDW2 and these few previews from 1984 have pleased me far more than anything in those ten issues.

Has there been any news about variant covers? I'll probably buy them all if I can. Hopefully this will sell well for IDW, and they will release some more books like it.

God that art is absolutely gorgeous.

Cannot wait for this story to finally drop :D  A tragedy that this won't be an ongoing, as it'd easily be infinitely better than anything else planned from IDW TF 2.0.

If the the one shot sells well enough, I’m sure IDW will want to green light more issues (barring any external roadblocks). After all, Marvel G1 was intended to be a “4 issue limited series”.

And that's fine. It doesn't change that this story is one-and-done.

We desperately NEED more such self-contained stories.
