I decided, for gits n' shiggles, that I'd go stock Hasbro and put Abominus together.

It saved the team, for me, because this:

I couldn't do that with the kit to save my life. Tried the combined gun from the kit, too heavy and caused him to fall over. That's the G1 gun and it works remarkably well.

This set, aside from Hun-Grrr's shield (and even then, that feels like it's going to break), is pretty much a total wash.

Please, whatever you do, DON'T give this company your money and I genuinely feel bad for any retailer stuck with this dreck. Please save yourselves, spend the money on something frivolous, don't burn it in a fire. This set is plastic fire. The kind that feels like you're in Hell.

Yeah I ended up not using the new feet. Biggest problem I have is actually Hungrr's ratchets have too much play in them

I have a sunnier disposition on my set, but I hate that you feel so burned by yours

It's been at least a month since I've transformed the set, and when I did, it was pain-inducing. Before that, it was when the set came out and I did it twice. Good grief, today's transformation was pure bliss by comparison.

The head included is absolutely awful. The only good thing about this kit is the chestplate.

Did any other company do a upgrade kit for Abominus? I know PE just did Hands & Feet but I really wanna beef yo my set a bit. Real bummer this set ended up being a dud.

I'm not sure how you guys are having so many issues with this kit. If you pose Abominus and don't mess with him he looks pretty great.

    EDIT:
Me and a couple folks here are the only one who really have no issues with this kit lol. Honestly on my copy, Abominus thigh pieces don't really fall whatsoever. It's only when I try to get a crazy ass pose and off it goes usually right side. The kits not perfect but it's better than the official default look in my books.

I really like my set. I regularly pose him (without tóo much problems) and take him apart without issues or frustration. I also ended up warming up to the head.

If they’ll do one for the upcoming Gen.Select King Poseidon - which is most likely - I’ll buy it 100% (assuming the Seacons don’t end up being a letdown). That said, while upgrading retail Abominus was a no-brainer money-wise, an TDW-fied King Poseidon will be hitting 3p combiner price levels...(so yeah ok, maybe 100%).

Well, 1.) Posing him was the problem. He can't balance too well, plus the added weight makes him a Weeble who actually does fall down. When you'd reconfigure his position to display, the parts would fall off. 2.) It's an action figure that's poseable, it's meant to be moved, period. 3.) It's an absolute pain in the butt to get back and forth through the modes when you're basically building his ribcage and spine and then tearing it back down because you might like to see the figures themselves.

Maybe some of us just want an updated Abominus we can actually play with. This upgrade kit isn't much of an upgrade if it takes the play out of it.

I was afraid of getting it after all reviews pretty much shitted on it (and I watched ALL)... But they all basically agreed that it looked great in statue mode so I went ahead and tried the anime release.

Mine is pretty much solid all around. I can play with it and the side pieces don't fall off. Only time one started to come off was after much posing. Maybe my stock Abominus was one of the good ones or they changed tolerances along with the piece they changed for the knees. No problems standing up or holding poses save for the limits of the stock joints. The kit shoulder joints are a bit loose and I had to pass a bit of soft sandpaper on the feet pegs because I was afraid they were too tight.

Little fanmode to give him two advisors to help when deciding things.

@Turnman YES.!!! STEP ON DANIEL.!!! Haha Yeah on my kit it holds fine,it's only when you try and pose it crazy where things get sketchy. Overall its not a bad kit and better looking than the Official set up.
Btw I was thinking for the face maybe put a couple coats of wash on it to bring out the face.?

I’m curious, did dream wave announce any plans for other figures? Like they seemed to have skipped right past menasor.

Honestly, Menasor needs a whole new Motormaster. No amount of upgrade kits is gonna change that.

(Although, if they DID do a kit I hope its just a trailer that unfolds to mostly a Menasor body with MM just folding up into a cube and plugging into it. Only way I can think that they could improve enough to warrant a kit for that mold.)
