Just got my shipping notice from TCP for this kit so it’s now in stock!
Mines been in rollers stash for about 2 weeks now, so TCP has had it for a bit now
I got my Starscream kit from TCP today. Other than the feet (I'm really not a fan of any of TDW's combiner feet) its a nice kit. The cape even feels like it's not going to shred in a couple months. The hands are similar to Volcanicus and Abominus's hands, with the exception of two rocket-like blasters on the backs of them. I don't have the Abominus kit but I have the Volcanicus kit and SS's hands and feet pegged in much smoother than Volcanicus's and hold nice and snug. Very happy about that. No stability issues so far either.
There's only ONE downside to this kit.
The cape is designed to peg into the back of Starscream's thrusters. The little metal pegs the kit comes with are very nice, and they peg in nice and tight. But, I prefer to have my Starscream turned around backwards so I can use Skywarp as a chest minion. The solution I came up with was taking this little chain off the upgraded gun kit from Warbotron's Bruticus.
Split the chain in half, and open the links on the ends to fit over SS's guns. It's not perfect, but it works until I find another option. I will probably buy a cheap necklace so I can have a chain long enough to simply wrap around his chest behind Skywarp.
All in all I'm very happy with this kit!
Another YouTube video is up (not mine I just noticed it).
These leg covers are fucking awful. The dragon-head knees were what I was probably most excited about but these are garbage. A locking point, a panel that folds around the leg and clips... anything would’ve been better.
I feel like I wasted my money on this kit.
Got my Abominus set in from BBTS yesterday. Definitely has some issues but I still like it. It does look great, but like many others, wish the execution was better. I did manage to find a simple non invasive fix for the thigh covers. I used a little sticky tack, the kind you would use to hang up posters. Just put a small amount on each of the inside thigh pieces so they hold to Hun Gurrrs thighs better. Now when I'm messing around and posing him, I'm not having any issues with the pieces falling off. Not the best solution if you plan on transforming him a bunch, but it worked as a quick fix with no mods necessary.
Has anyone got anything to say about the rifle? Especially on Screamer. Does it store well?
It stores well in his hand but I haven't bothered trying to store it in any vehicle modes.
Received my abominus kit today. And I’m agreement with everyone else. Not super happy with it. Tolerances are really bad, parts fall off, and due to hunger having those poor shoulder joints, he won’t even stand.
I just installed the kit, it's very easy, and no big issue at all, the only thing I need is sand the feet join a little, that's it. I'm quite happy about this set and no real complains.
I've seen some previous pics on this thread where people used the Perfect Effect feet with this set. Are those a little more stable? I've worked out any real issues with the upper body and legs, but the feed just don't support the weight of this thing, namely in the ankles. Just wants to tip over and it's very hard to find a balanced center of gravity.
Got it in today!
Has anybody heard back from TCP regarding the missing extra face and chest pieces?
I got the set today and the issues I havent had the parts popping off. But, the fact that the stock shoulders on Hungarr cannot take the added weight really hurts this upgrade. The bottom of the feet do not have a flat surface like the PE feet so I can't put pads underneath for stability. You really can't pose this figure without the splits or him swaying forward.
Same experience for me. I was getting frustrated with the feet, so I put the original POTP feet on just for kicks. What's funny is the figure is suddenly super stable. It looks kind of ridiculous but you can actually pose it in almost any way and the feet distribute the weight correctly. If these TDW feet weren't so complicated and just had a strong connection for the ankles it would have made a huge difference.
I’m using PE feet. They work just fine. The weight of the combiner makes it tilt to the front.
Epic battles are about to begin!
What will triumph, Brains or Brawn?
Or better to pit savagery against savagery?
See my post about using screen spline. Works like a charm.
Finally getting around to trying these, "Destron Super Scramble" and "Abomineticus"
Sadly some blockage issues with the latter, but that's due to the leg side changes from the original G1.
Arrgh, really want this set to make Abominus look infinitely better.
