Transformers #13 Sold 100,000 Copies To Comic Stores Man, this feels pretty unprecedented. Stunt or no stunt, when has issue 13 of a comic ever sold this well compared to its 1st issue performance when the 1st issue performed so well? Not to mention it's outsold the entire IDW run! That's amazing!
It’s doing super well for sure. That said DreamWave’s comics stared out doing strong, so I just hope it maintains as we hopefully move more into new content and less G1 on “Fuck you and your favorite characters” in a good way mind.
Always hyped to see news like this, and I wish other publishers would take (more) notes from Skybound’s approach. Good story by a good writer, good (and consistent) art by talented artists, cool covers, and multi-faceted support for retailers from the publisher. It’s a recipe for success.
The most impressive part to me is that it's not JUST Transformers that's doing well: Void Rivals is doing decently for an original IP and I'm getting quite into it, plus the Joe stuff they've put out has been consistently really enjoyable, as a lifelong fan of both major IP's here... I'm quite satisfied and very curious to see where it goes from here. I think they've created a really solid foundation for a shared universe here, yet Paramount are sitting there scratching their asses regarding their movie crossover like they've been asked to discover life on Saturn.
They weren't getting paid in terms of the company? It was the artists and staff that weren't getting paid, because sales were starting to dry up and the company was overextended and had not saved up a reserve (to put things mildly). Skybound is in a very different situation, but it's great to hear the comics are still keeping people interested.
This is a great number. GI Joe was #4 for me as a kid behind TF, Heman, and MASK, but I am enjoying the Destro book the most out of the Skybound offerings. Really hope this continuity last for many years.
Some higher ups were spending money on personal items before paying the staff meaning there wasn’t enough cash to go around
