I think Airazor is probably the logical choice. She is the best character so would have the most design challenge.

As an alternative, I don't think it would by unthinkable to see them attempt to tackle Dinobot or Blackarachnia, if they felt like they could improve upon Takara's. There is definitely room for improvement for both of them with some crazier engineering magic.

As much I'd love for TransArt to go all in on TransMetals and see them do figures that didn't make it to the show, part of me fears that figures like TM Airazor, Rhinox, Terrorsaur and others would just be slightly retooled upscaled KOs of the og figures.

Because after they finish with all the show characters where do they go?

 

Yeah after TM Megatron it seems they don't really want to take it to MP engineering which they could have with Megs.

 

Isn’t that basically what this entire line has always been? Slight improvements along the margins, but none of these have reinvented the wheel.

What more Do we need? The original TM were pretty good. These are more in scale and more articulation. Good enough for me. No need for complicated transformations

 

Yeah, they're reengineering what they NEED to on these toys. Megatron didn't really need a lot of revisions.

 

Given how long new figures take, I'm looking forward to NEW characters, from the show, that have no MP equivalents. (please stay away from characters that already have Takara MPs.... that are already nearly perfect).

I know TransArt is focusing more on the Transmetals but it sounds like they have Silverbolt in the pipeline, as well as DepthCharge and Rampage. Can't wait for that, I'd love an MP Quickstrike as well.

But really I'd rather we finally get everything completed from Season 1, Rhinox, Rattrap, Waspinator, Airazor, Inferno, Tarantulas, Scorponok. Maybe Metagate will get to it before TA, or *gasp* an official Takara will materialize before the end of the decade.

 

when you look at the early TA figures, like primal, there was very little in engineering updates and a lot of us looked at the figure like KOs. But the improvements they did make and the quality of their sculpts really won me over with the figures they released since.... BUT I think we are seeing the lack of engineering in the latest stuff. They make a nice figure but they aren't hitting those MP how did they do that moments.

 

In away you could say Cheetor, and Primal are upscaled versions of the ogs with some slight tooling, even their Optimal. But Rattrap is an entirely new mold, and transforms nothing like the original toy.

I can't comment on Megatron. Still waiting on the 2nd run to be released.

I'm not saying I want over-complicated transformations. Just that I would want the headsculpts to look more in-line with the show designs. Like say if they were to do TransMetal Airazor, well I'd want the headsculpt to take more elements from her face on the show. TM Airazor's face looks nothing like Airazor. Characters like Rhinox, Waspinator, and Terrorsaur resemble their on-screen faces more than Airazor, but they still don't quite hit the mark. Basic oversized versions of the originals would just come off as lazy, and I probably wouldn't buy them.

I'm new to this line, but it looks like TransArt is purposely staying away from S1 versions of the characters. And it makes sense - Takara hasn't touched S2/S3, and they are probably betting that it will be 3-5 years before Takara even gets close to TransMetals. We've got 8 more S1 characters for Takara to release, so TransArt is hoping they don't have any "official" competition for quite some time.

 

Yeah, I’m betting you’re right. I love to keep it official, but at the rate Takara is going, I’ll be in my 90s by the time they finish off BW. And that’s *IF* they bother.

 

They still haven't finished s1 of G1 in MP. If it wasn't for 3rd party many people would have much smaller collections Many that may just consist of mostly optimus remolds.
