So I have a deal that might go down and I wanted to get the boards input. I have a Classics Sideswipe, loose but complete and am in talks with a guy in town on trading for his United Jazz, also loose.

Does this seem like a fair deal?

    **Edit**

I'm on board but I'm getting the feeling the other dude doesnt think Sideswipe is worth as much and might want me to pony-up some cash to balance it out.

Well value wise its a good trade but if he does not think it is it will be hard to change his mind.

Looking at the respective values of each toy, Classics Sideswipe is just about $10, your average TF deluxe price. The lowest price on the main market that I can recall ever hearing for United Jazz was close to five times that amount (about $50). Since you're the one trading FOR Jazz, I'd say the other guy is getting the shorter end of the deal, but if you're both satisfied on the trade then I'd say do it.

    Ebay:
Well, it's going for about 30 on ebay

United Jazz is what 40 after shipping? Is it sealed or loose? Sealed, you gotta pony up some cash

    EDIT:

    United Jazz

Thanks for the input guys. I don't want to be a jerk and try to rip off the other guy.

It might be worth throwing in another deluxe on your end of the deal. After all, United Jazz is 3-5x the retail price of U2 Sideswipe.

Based on what they are both now going for on ebay, if they are both loose, it is pretty close to a fair swap (atleast would be fair enough in my book). If the United Jazz is MOSC, I would throw between $10-$15 his way to cover the difference in value and likely difference in shipping price.

Just opinion, but for me, it aso depends how much you want that Jazz (It is a nice figure). I am guessing you probably paid retail for Sideswipe (though I could be wrong), and although it is worth quite a bit more now making what you paid for it irrelavent, you would have to find a buyer for the figure, and then find somewhere that has Jazz after that transaction is complete. With this transaction, you already have a "buyer" and it may be worth the convenience throwing a few extra duckets his way. If that makes any sense at all.

Retail is Out the window here. Sideswipe has gone up in value. I say it is an even trade.

I think doing a straight up trade is good. Both are worth about the same.

Personally though, I think you're getting the better part of the deal. I absolutely love that Jazz mold.

That's like saying good condition G1 Fort Max is an even trade for an ROTF Supreme Devastator. Good luck finding a Classics Sideswipe for $10 just like good luck finding a G1 Fort Max for $99 (or whatever the retail price was).

It depend on whether you really need the United Jazz or not? If you need it, i consider the deal to be fair enough.

Given the current market values, conditions, etc. I'm at about Sideswipe + $10 = Jazz.

If other party is not happy, then no amount of assurance of current value makes it a good trade. I hope you will work out something you both are comfortable with :)  United Jazz is so worth it!

I'd recommend throwing in another Classics deluxe or cash.

I don't think a straight up swap is fair personally, but we all have different perceptions of value. I mean, I traded a 2.0 Starscream for a Music Label Soundwave once.

throw in a current deluxe figure then I think it's a fair deal. If it were Henkei Sideswipe then I think it would be a straight swap.
