To this day, nobody knows the fate of this very upgrade set.

It's Overlord, so I imagine it involved a lot of robots exploding into gallons of pepto-bismol.

Not everyone has $180 to spend on a single figure ;)  tr overlord plus an upgrade would still likely be a good bit cheaper than carnifex

One other point is not everyone likes the look of carnifex, personally while I like overlords idw characterization I think his design is kind of ugly comparatively

People said this companies bruticus and defensor upgrades were dead in the water before they came out as well. And actually I’m pretty happy with tr overlord, but this kit would solve what few issues I do have with him. Upgrades aren’t always about making a figure you don’t like tolerable, sometimes it’s about taking a figure you do like and making it better, in this case bulking him up to stand opposite God ginrai, carnifex wouldn’t match in style. I’ll never understand people that come into threads for upgrade kits that kind of shit on upgrade kits they deem pointless

I would love a kit that simply replaced the TR mold's shitty forearms and gave him something without the wrist gap, it's actually not a bad figure at all otherwise. It would be really simple to make, could even just copy the LG Dai Atlas' forearms. Maybe if they don't decide to produce the whole kit, they can do just the arms and maybe some boots?

Ridiculous. Might as well make a whole new figure.

While I totally get your position, I'm looking at this kit from a different perspective. I didn't buy TR Overlord; he's fine, I'm just not tied to G1 and have more of a connection to his IDW version. With that said, TR Overlord is fine but too small to me. Carnifax, on the other hand, is too stylised and too big to me. I would have probably bought TR Overlord had he been a head, even a head and half larger. If some company did an upscaled KO of it I would probably pick it up over Carnifax and commission an IDW head for him or something.

This kit pretty much addresses my issue with with him but I'm sure this kit will be north of $100, on top of the $50 to get a Overlord (if not more at this point); I'm left wondering why not just take the next step and make the jet piece since it's already gonna be a total cost around the same price total? Maybe if they threw in a compatible jet pieces or whatever to make another figure I could write it off as getting two in one for the price, but with this kit I'm gonna have a spare set of Overlord legs just hanging around. Kind of a waste of $50 to me when half of it is thrown in a box.

I get it though, if you bought the figure already chances are you liked it but do you like it enough to pay an extra $100+ to make it better? For a combiner kit, that question is a lot easier for me to swallow since they're usually $50 or less. I'm in the market for an Overlord, I just wish this was an option for me (and people like me) who passed on him. I think Fans Hobby is pretty much my best option but I don't know how well that is gonna look next to my Takara Ginrai set.

Doublevil is about 38 cm tall and he is quite robust as well.

Yeah, I liked the shorter version they first had but it's the closest to what would want, maybe.....

definitely an understandable position, but i personally think you are overestimating the cost, im thinking $70-$80 at most, much more than that and yea, your right, i would have to consider if the cost was actually worth it or not

Doesn’t look good with no real updates since it was announced, but if it finally does see production I’ll buy it. As I posted before, I’d even buy too if the quality was there so I could upgrade the Hasbro and Takara versions.

I for some reason, love the TR OL. I'd still buy this.

    X2 stuff ain't cheap, though.
